XJ help irc channel can be used now

\\r\\nWith a complete new system XJ is having live support now in irc. We already had such a support with our support channel, but now the system is better. XJ plans to create a ladder

\\r\\nThe creation of a league has been tried many times here at XJ, but all attempts failed after some time, because of various reasons. Since XJ just got a new website coder, [flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b], we are planing to build something new. We want to add one more way to enjoy jumping, beside recording world records or playing cups. We want to create a ladder or some kind of a gather system. The project has just started and it's still a long way to finish this project, but the system is worked out by \\r\\n[flag]de[/flag][b] chrizZo[/b] and ready to be coded by owned. Together they want to face this big project and both want it to become reality. The whole system will be automatically and no admin is needed to watch matches or demos afterwards. Like in other leagues or ladders, the only task for the admins is to care about the reported matches. \\r\\n\\r\\nAs we've said, it's still a long way, but we wanted to make this information public, because the community needs to see we try to make something new. We don't want to stand still.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n

Wiki system integrated

\\r\\nA lot of other communities got a wiki nowadays. They are using it as a platform to inform other players about structures and functions of their website. Furthermore many useful and entertaining information is saved into such an addon available for everyone to read. Our kreedz community here is growing daily and that's why XJ decided to face such a project. \\r\\n\\r\\nThere were many questions about how the community will be included and how the whole system will work and now it's elaborated and it's working. Hopefully this wiki system will be used by many people in the future to increase the information flow. Thanks to everyone who's participating in any way.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n

heL^_x becomes the Top 1 Recorder

\\r\\nRecently we have seen alot of demos, alot of amazing demos by [flag]fr[/flag] [b]heL^_x[/b] such as his most recent bkz_goldbhop in 1 minutes and 31 seconds. How does he prepare himself for a world record? What were his plans? Those, and many more questions will be answered in this weekly.\\r\\n\\r\\nThe previous top recorder [flag]ar[/flag] [b]kunqui[/b] was clearly targeted by him, and he says himself that he hasn't got anything against him but to reach the top it is faster to take the top 1 recorders demos. His goal was to be the top 1 player, and now he has reached it and is happy about it.\\r\\n\\r\\nheL^_x started off playing kreedz on his own when he found a server where these climbing-maps were played in, sometimes with his friends who were getting bored of the regular shooting. He liked it very much and he continued, and started really focusing to kreedz at around 2006. Now with his active played and practicing we can see the results ourselves - he hasn't got just one favourite map, but he says he enjoys every map he has had a world record in except just a few exceptions, if he had to say one it would be [b]kz_facility[/b].\\r\\n\\r\\nHe has a few favorite jumpers to mention, he says he likes all the french jumpers who had world records, Perfo, ndR, loty, kimo, Himuraken and especially his friend [flag]fr[/flag] [b]*Np_O*[/b] who helped him a lot with world records and stuff.\\r\\n\\r\\nNow that he has reached the very top, he says that he doesn't really know what he will do. He reached his personal goal, he made friends and had fun and now he says that he is, quite frankly, a bit bored of recording and might even stop playing for a while and come back with even more demos.\\r\\n\\r\\n[b]Where is heL^_x's movie?[/b]\\r\\n\\r\\nAs many people have noticed, his movie is and has been stuck at [b]60%[/b] status in [link=http://www.kz-pictures.eu/]KZ-Pictures[/link]. [flag]sk[/flag] Ma$takilla, the author of the movie, was willing to make heL^_x's movie when he asked him [b]8 months[/b] ago. Ma$takilla has had problems with his graphic cards and according to bkkL it will be finished. \\r\\n\\r\\nheL^_x's did find another moviemaker when he hadn't heard of Ma$takilla's response after a while, and he was [flag]de[/flag] [b]chosen[/b]. He has been releasing screenshots of the movie for heL^_x and it has been finishing more and more per day. We'll see what happens.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n[u]Quote[/u]\\r\\nOfcourse, at the beginning we just say; I won't be able to be top 1 or in the top 5 ranking in XJ, but when you're taking demos and more demos in each news you just trust yourself and do more. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe well known jumper [flag]de[/flag] [b]chrizZo[/b] has a fresh movie under production. The movie will be made by the skilled editor \\r\\n[flag]bg[/flag] [b]st0ka[/b], who is known for such creations as [b]k3G & akkord - Basics and Beyond[/b] and [b]sambb - Flying Steps[/b].\\r\\n\\r\\nBoth the jumper and moviemaker hope, that the movie will be somewhere under 10 minutes long. This will be a true gem, as st0ka promises to do his best work [u]ever[/u] on this movie - he wants to make it his personal best work and he will introduce a "cinematic type of moviemaking" to this promising climbing-video. \\r\\n\\r\\nIt wont be a trickjumping-movie, but it will be a compilation of the best bunnyhop-lines, shortcuts and cool, memorable moments from his [b]world record runs[/b], official records and unofficial. We can expect seeing this skillful piece of art roughly within 2 months. \\r\\n\\r\\n

A good map ... ?

\\r\\nA major work of the official kreedz community is to check new submitted maps and accept or deny them. Of course you need some criteria to judge the maps. The discussion about whether a map is good or not is an enduring question for a long time now. As you've seen [b]the maps became more extravagantly[/b], often combined with [b]great atmosphere[/b] crowned by a [b]complex infrastructure.[/b] But the question of the question is, what is the [b]category[/b] the XJ mapcheck team has to [b]pay the most attention[/b] to? \\r\\n\\r\\nI had a discussion with some known people, who are presenting their thoughts about this controversial topic. Myself, \\r\\n[flag]de[/flag][b] chrizZo[/b] had the role of a moderator and I've asked various questions. Read through it to get some opinions and new thoughts about the subject.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]de[/flag][b] chrizZo[/b]: Today we will have a chat about mapping and mapping related things. Four wonderful guys joined and probably the most of the people know you, but tell us what you have to do with mapping please!\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: I just love playing maps, getting to know them, whether they're hard or easy I always find some time to play them all once. Right now I'm a "trial" map check admin for XJ, hoping to make it to the official XJ mapcheck team\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: I am one of the biggest geeks at mapping I guess, approaching my 60th map. It was a big transition for me, since I stepped out from CS shooting and I moved to Kreedz climbing. KZ maps are something different, not just some random things. You can experience and learn new things and thatâ€™s why I love to play and check KZ maps for quality.\\r\\n\\r\\n-----------------------------------------------\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]de[/flag][b] chrizZo[/b]: If you're looking back to the roots of kreedz maps, where kreedz himself has made a lot of maps and other oldschool mappers, you will notice that the maps are looking really different compared to the maps nowadays. Even tho the look became better, a lot of people still love to play oldschool maps. Can you rate the development of the kreedz mapping style. Are the maps nowadays 'better' than the old ones?\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: I think with the advancements of hammer and the greater level of excellency people have brought to their maps really shows that the maps nowadays are better in style and quality than the older ones. But you can't really compare something so legendary with somebody new and never-before seen, it's comparing apples to oranges, it just doesn't work. I love old school maps, but I love new maps as well. I can't really say much about the old school maps because i haven't been active in the KZ scene for /that/ long, but for a good amount of time to at least know what the old maps feel like. versus today where you see a lot of the modern maps played more often than a lot of the old school ones\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ca[/flag][b] pLANE[/b]: my favourite kz are oldschool ones for sure. maps these days look beautiful don't get me wrong, but sometimes i feel people try way to hard. kreedz was simple and easy to follow back in the day. now its easy to get lost in maps or w/e with all the details. if i had to pick a style i would say oldschool for sure. kreedz had a very unique style that made his maps look very nice even though they weren't ridiculously detailed\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: good question, i think this is discussed frequently. I think the reason why we play the "oldschool" maps is because it kinda takes us back in a way. but like all other things, it gets more modern, and i know that we cant accept all maps that get submitted. because then we will approach 1000 maps soon i guess. I agree with pLANE, kz is played because its fun to jump, not because you just want to go around looking at the map, a lot of mappers are forgetting that these days. like me for example.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ro[/flag][b] CyclopP[/b]: Nowadays, most of the mappers just map to have maps: â€œHey, I made a map. Wowâ€. They donâ€™t think or know what mapping is all about. Since Iâ€™m an oldschooler, I totally love oldschool maps. They have something different. Itâ€™s all about pure climbing. In these days, mappers seem to forgot this thing. Donâ€™t get me wrong. We do have amazing newschool maps. We do have talented mappers in the scene. For example, radon. Probably one of the best mappers. His style is just insane. Amazing jumps, amazing environment, everything fits together. So yes, I often prefer to play oldschool maps since I can experience the oldschool feeling again.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: I think we, As a mapcheck team, have too high standards, when it comes to looks of a map, am i the only one ?\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: Well obviously the standards of anything increase overtime. In 2005 a map with no details but fun jumps was a GREAT map. Nowadays you see maps presented with hella detail and epic jumps, but some people don't think there's enough of either.\\r\\n\\r\\n-----------------------------------------------\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]de[/flag][b] chrizZo[/b]: So we kinda have two sides here. The one side loves to climb and it's about the jumps. This means the fun you're having while climbing is the most important thing. The other side is seeing the look and the style of a map as a major thing.\\r\\n\\r\\nIt's very important to see, that radon is agreeing with pLANE's opinion, even tho he needs to reject bad designed maps, because he needs to stop the flood of new maps at XJ.\\r\\n\\r\\nTo get closer to XJ, what do you think should the mapcheck team care of while checking maps?\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: Well a map of course needs SOME kind of theme, a lot of the new maps doesn't really have a theme either, just random textures with random jumps. Even though the jumps are good, we still need good looks.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: When I mapcheck a lot of maps these days I find it hard to believe people are still making long maps with no fun detail. I find a map with great detail a lot better than a map with no detail but with a good scale of fun jumps. Today I look for a map with low amount of bugs and high amount of details because I think that's what some people want and more people EXPECT, especially the newcomers, from a new KZ map. Unless we're making a map with a theme of oldschool, which would be a nice map, then I suppose details aren't what we're looking for, but we still want to look for a great deal of passion shown in the creation of the map, whether being architecture or just the way the map is planned out.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ca[/flag][b] pLANE[/b]: I think the mapcheck team should obviously look for major flaws, unique structure like the path the jumps go and the overall design of the level with the layout in mind. Each map should have nicely placed textures as well. Where I think XJ sometimes goes overboard is tiny things such as a little light bug or lack of detail throughout. Although I am biased because I like oldschool maps. :p\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: It might look like we go overboard with tiny bugs I know :) but we are actually just pointing out the small things to the mapper, which he probably didn't see for himself. Its always the major flaws that make our decision. Showing tiny bugs is just to help the maker.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: The smaller bugs also show how careless a mapper can be, if we see multiple light bugs in one confined area then you could probably say that, that mapper doesn't show a lot of respect towards his creations.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: Exactly, too many lightbugs is also a major flaw. that mapper might also just be unexperienced\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ro[/flag][b] CyclopP[/b]: Diversity. New things. We are witnessing at something totally sad for KZ scene. Many maps are released, but right after, people are starting to forget about those maps and play again the old and usual maps day by day. Why ? Like I said, most of the mappers just map to have maps. They need to add some kind of emotion, the thrill of climbing, new perspective in a map. They need to have something in it to keep you jumping. We can release many maps, but then what ? Nobody will play them. Totally blown away. What a waste of time. Not for us, the map checking team. The waste of time itâ€™s for the mapper. Nobody will play his map.\\r\\nThey need to think in a whole new perspective. Where is the mapperâ€™s pride ? Think about it !\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: A mapper can easily show who he/she is just from what they can present to the world. Something incredibly great, or something incredibly disastrous!\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: One of the reasons why people don't play the new maps as much, is because people normally just want to play what they already know, over and over again.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ca[/flag][b] pLANE[/b]: CyclopP I like what you're saying very much. I find myself playing new maps less and less these days and often just go back to my favourite oldschool ones.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: Exactly radon, people are so much more used to old school maps now because they KNOW how to get around, they KNOW all the shortcuts and secrets, it takes time before one specific map becomes the "IT" map of the week, month or year.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ca[/flag][b] pLANE[/b]: Exactly. Maps these days just have so much stuff; beautiful and all, but its too much to try and learn to me. We need a balance between jumps and looks for sure. I have seen beautiful maps with really bad jumps as well. But the XJ mapcheck team cares too much about the look.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: They should always care, you don't want maps that look bad and feel bad while you play them.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ca[/flag][b] pLANE[/b]: Yes and no. I think newschool maps are great, a lot people love them. But to the oldschool mapper, if that's what he's going for its hard to get accepted. Maybe some slack there, IF the map looks good though. You canâ€™t demand to have amazing maps with amazing environment and jumps. They are humans too. I also like to see a rollercoaster in the jumps, going from easy to medium back to easy, or hard to extreme back to hard.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ro[/flag][b] CyclopP[/b]: The balance, the balance and again the balance. You can have fun jumps, but if the environment is ugly, I donâ€™t know how many guys will play the map. If you have great environment, but boring jumps, people will play your map, but donâ€™t know for how long. They will get used to the environment, and then guess what ?\\r\\nItâ€™s always about the balance !\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: What we need in most of the new maps as well, is height! A lot of the oldschool maps is really high (bean for example) timber is a bad example, because it has everything a map needs.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: I would love to see more maps like 911dedication, a map with NO hp, fall you die, gg game over.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: yea, makes it much more exciting to jump the map. without checks of course.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ca[/flag][b] pLANE[/b]: Haha, I miss height too. I remember way back how nervous I'd get playing a tall map. Also doing it before checkpoints were invented. Those were the days. Just to pick two out: kzno_xtremeblock or bkz_goldbhop. Nowadays no new map gets that popular and known like these two maps. Of course you can say, if the map wants to be legendary, it needs to be old. But thats not what I'm saying. What was SO special about the old maps?\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: If a map wants to be legendary it needs to definitely show some good records with a lot of improvement. People are going to recognize the map as something challenging, but fun to play on.A map that people CAN remember playing the next day.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b]: I think they are so popular because the mappers probably hit the perfect balance between jumps. Jumps are simply perfect, goldbhop: everyone can do it and its the perfect speed map. Xtremeblock: its a good challenge for everyone and a perfect extreme map\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]ca[/flag][b] pLANE[/b]: Both of those maps are so easy to understand, there is no trickery anywhere. You have one route and they both have a lot of room for cutting corners and what not. Thatâ€™s what those 2 maps have. kzno_xtremeblock is a real challenge for someone who wants to make a perfect run in a short time. Itâ€™s just perfect to train your skills.\\r\\nAs for goldbhop, you can prove there that you are one of a hell bhoper. If you make a wr on goldbhop, everybody will see you as a pro bhoper.\\r\\nYou are right, when you're saying these maps are simple... But still, they're the most played ones?\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: They're the most played because of how crazy people have worked their way through them. Or maybe the fact that when those maps came out the jumps were new. Of course its important that there are no bugs in the map but there should be more focus on the jumping. Most new releases come out with maps that fit in this category. They're good looking maps with good looking jumps. The problem is what kind of quantity do we have. Every mapper should have his own style, to add something new and fresh to his map. There are A LOT of custom/non-official maps that are a lot better than what is being released. If more maps came out, once accepted it's released, I think there would be a better result in the end. Not every map should need a mandatory 130 models and 16 custom made brushes per jump. Also find Kreedz, tie him up, throw him in a bag and ship him to a room with a computer that only has Hammer installed so he can make them maps again!\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]us[/flag][b] owned[/b]: In the future I suspect the map check team is going to be a little bit more lenient in order to get some of the more deserving maps a chance. They may just take focus off the smallest light bug or the oddest texture bug and focus more on the bigger things. Those things being the jumps, the overall look and design of the map and all the other things that make the map a true work of art and devotion. Most people today have high expectations for new maps and they're going to definitely want to see MORE and MORE new things. Even the small things people are surely going to notice and note when they play another new map. Overall, KZ maps will just keep rolling in, greater and greater with many new things and a lot of fun and exciting adventures.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]se[/flag][b] omilo[/b]: I think the mapcheck team should try to check each map together in a server. Easier and more fun for the mapcheckers that way. Whats up with mgD?

\\r\\nThe last release came out of nowhere. Many demos of [flag]bg[/flag][b] mgD[/b] at one strike. It was a small collection he released there. But what is he doing now? Is he collecting demos? The answer is sad, but true and it's no, he isn't.\\r\\n\\r\\nAt the moment [b]mgD[/b] is rather [b]semi active[/b], at least when it comes up to recording. He is still playing kreedz and he's playing it really active. But he [b]dislikes to record[/b]. As many other players he got bored by this type of playing and that's why he stopped doing it.\\r\\n\\r\\nBut there's one map, that is an exception at the moment. He's going for [b]giantbean[/b]! He has just tied it. We are waiting!\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n

Exploiting the doubleduck technique

\\r\\n[flag]de[/flag][b] chrizZo[/b]: In your latest movie you performed once again new doubleduck trickjumps.\\r\\nIt is incredible, how you are discovering this technique more and more and you are becoming a pioneer in this new way of jumping. For many people the technique is unknown and I want to ask you how you're doing it.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]cn[/flag][b] SiMen.alex[/b]: The first time I saw someone doing doubleducks in a movie was brian, he made the cs_siege jump in his first movie, which was defined impossible at the time. Later I tried the trick myself, and I took a very long time to make it. As I try more and more tricks with doubleducks, I also found another it could be done in a bhop combo. More advance way of doing it includes multi doubleducks and standup doubleducks. In multi doubleducks, I try to keep strafe in one way till I feel the time time to strafe in another direction, for an example would be I duck twice with right strafing, and quickly switch to left ducking the same time. Every duck I do is from mouse scroll, so basically I have to scroll it very fast, or else I would stop. Muti doubleducks are often used in a trick which gives a high maxspeed at start, like jumping off a cliff. Also people use it to do dcj, or edark jump. Standup double ducks are often used in a bhop combo or to reach a bit further by ducking down, the way to do this is same as we do crouch hops, hit duck on keyboard right after scrolling. Also an useful way to use this is like people doubleduck on to a short block, this could take out the stop when getting on to the block, wonder why brian's ducks are so fast? He uses this to do it, scroll,duck,quickly loose duck. In all double ducking techniques, strafing would help to gain or remain speed, however, on a perfect doubleduck, strafing is hardly required. Lastly, practice, practice, practice.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]de[/flag][b] chrizZo[/b]: Just wondering - What's the hardest thing about this technique? Is it the scrolling or the strafing you need to perform. In my case for example, I don't even know how you can scroll that fast.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]cn[/flag][b] SiMen.alex[/b]: You need a fast finger to scroll fast enough, that's the basic,next is the timing of each duck, and the hardest is sync the strafe while ducking.\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]de[/flag][b] chrizZo[/b]: Well, if you're saying you need a fast finger.. You had this "fast finger" from the beginning or did you managed to train your fingers into that directory? :> \\r\\nThis sounded like you would be a natural talent, born to perform doubleducks!\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]cn[/flag][b] SiMen.alex[/b]: Nooooo, I think it's because i use index finger to scroll, and from what I know, most people do it with middle finger, and I can barely do a normal double duck with middel finger. Mapping news

\\r\\nIs the mapping world on the ground? Now listen carefully and read slowly. What follows is not a joke. [flag]dk[/flag][b] radon[/b] has [u]no new map projects at the moment[/u]. Emergency situation in Denmark.\\r\\n\\r\\nNo, of course we were kidding. Mapping isn't on the ground and many new maps are getting submitted, accepted and released these days. As you've maybe noticed our oldschool friend [flag]no[/flag][b] Chrizzy[/b] has currently released some world records. That means, he's active again. The only thing we have to do now, is waiting for his new maps!\\r\\n\\r\\nHe has offered a lot of information about the current projects he has. Not all news were great, some of the news were really sad to be honest. Let's go through his projects.\\r\\n\\r\\n[b]kzno_ caseblock_v3[/b] is finished. The map is at least 15 or 20 minutes long. Chrizzy hasn't done a very good run on it yet, so he can't tell it that exactly. But he can tell you, it'll be [b]long[/b]. He still has to do make the hard version of it and that's why it'll take more time till we are able to play this continuation of the legendary caseblock series.\\r\\n\\r\\n[b]kzno_xtremeblock_v2[/b] is frozen. Chrizzy needs to redo the whole layout to fix fps problems. At the moment, even tho it's only 1/3 finished he has 40 fps sometimes. There's still a lot of blocks he has map and thats why it'll take [b]much more time[/b]. This could be one possibility, but...\\r\\n\\r\\n[flag]no[/flag][b] Chrizzy[/b]: I don't know.. it will probably never be finished.. sorry to say it, but I have too much projects now to even think about that map.\\r\\n\\r\\n[b]kz_rockyblock[/b] is the project he is currently working on. He really wants to get that map finished, but at the moment he is having leaks, that doesn't make any sense in his eyes. Thats why he can't continue with it now, but he's trying to fix everything!\\r\\n\\r\\nSuddenly Chrizzy gave me a whole list of projects he is currently working on. What is XeopH doing today?

\\r\\nAs so many players [flag]fi[/flag][b] XeopH[/b] is sharing the fate to be inducted by the army. He had to go to the army in January and he's still bound to it today. That's why he couldn't play kz anymore or to be an active part in the scene. Sometimes he even needs to go to the army during weekends. But when he has finished the army, that will be in October, he will will start playing kz again and he will try to beat some of his world records back. But he knows that the level is rising and it'll be hard to come back.\\r\\nHopefully you'll come back XeopH.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n
