Map nomination rules updated

By PsYxOpAt mapper·
Hello guys,

In the last few weeks there has been a large amount of posts in the Map Nominations forum that didn't follow the rules and therefore got warned and deleted. To try to get rid of these posts the XJ mapcheck team has decided to update the rules once again.

Like before, all votes that don't follow the rules will be deleted and the user warned according to the new rules. We urge you to read the rules now. If you have any questions, please use the comments section below.

You can read the rules here.

Best Regards,
XJ Mapcheck Team

50 post are too much imo..

7. If you want to vote for a specific map, you have to: - Be registered 3 months ahead of your vote date; - Have at least 50 posts in the forum. It's the best rules imo

Yes, rule number 7 is great, i was waiting for it. 50 posts isn't too much.

understood

I guess that - no matter if you once again reminded everybody to read the rules - it will happen just as often in the future that people write things that are not according to these rules. To avoid this there should be a BIG FAT BLINKING RED demand note, to read the rules with a link to them just following the demand at the beginning of every new map-thread. This way everybody who just comes by this thread and thinks: "Hey cool, gonna write something irrelevant", will stop and think: "Hmpf, there are special rules here... don't wanna read it, bye." --> One less unnecessery comment!

No offense but, Can some admin plz care to step up and answer what's the major significance of this rule? [blockquote]7. If you want to vote for a specific map, you have to: - Have at least 50 posts in the forum.[/blockquote] So, a guy just have to be uber "textually-active" in the forum section to make his vote and his statements stand apart than the other public? Why should we differentiate between a guy X who has 10 posts and a guy Y who has 3000 posts? Just take in constructive/unique/useful comments, that's what is needed.

@prad, I guess the purpose of 50-post rule is simply to get rid of "friend"-posts. As some mappers ask their friends to vote for the map increasing its chances to be official. Oldschool mappers probably dont do that. But some noname mappers ask their noname friends to register at xj and write a big constructfull comment to support their creation, no matter if the map is actually good or not :-)

My map (kzpt_pgc_ourskirts) is nominated for some time now. Do i have to post it in the Map Presentation/Release Forum?

17/04/2011 01:47:00

sometimes we think the same of other guys and we can post anyway? prad +1

Rule nr. 6: "You are allowed to post only one screenshot per map"; that's ...... most (NOT) cool rule:) ; and the 7th ... 50 posts? That's another meaningless(IMO) rule; I dont understand; ok: being registred for at least 3 months is really a good rule, but 50 posts? Where's the logic? Explain to me , DEAR admins. You can be registred for an year or more and have 1 post; but other "spammers" can be registred for only 3 months and those spammers may write, and others can't? So I ask one more time: Explain to me rule nr.7 point 1, DEAR admins.

@prad This way we see how active is one user and should we count his vote. For example I will give you the map kzcn_ruins_1956. You can see that the map has plenty of votes which is good, but mostly of these users have only single post, they are from China and were registered before 1 month. So it's easy to understand, that most of these users were asked by the mapper to vote for his map. With this rule we are trying to limit the unnecessary votes. Having 50+ posts means the user is active in the site. However, it's easy to get 50+ posts if you start spamming around the forum with useless posts and I can assure you, that this won't bring to anything good. @[J]0rGe No, no need to update the old threads. These rules will effect only the new maps. You can post your map everywhere in the internet, but the map must be finished if you want to nominate it here. @StarWars*1 Check the rules, again. Go to Explanation-->Screenshots and you will see why we added this rule. Regards, PsY

Okay, thank you.

17/04/2011 14:33:00

it was necessary to introduce yet another rule. Mappers must submit a demo with passing on a map which he created, without checkpoints. . Hope you see that, and stop accepting maps which author cant complete. Like kzua_zp_godroom_h. In my opinion, make hard map - easy, because they increase the units between the blocks, only. *sad*

17/04/2011 15:07:00

hardblocks ; you made my day ; your logic is "russian" :D:D

17/04/2011 15:07:00

I don't agree with you hardblocks. A mapper doesn't have to be a "pro" player to create maps. Just because i can't finish a map i made, it doesn't mean someone can't do it.

17/04/2011 17:56:00

@StarWars*1, I would like to ask you to not bother and try be just a little more polite. It's the best rules imo

18/04/2011 00:33:00

pqst is right

18/04/2011 10:15:00

Maybe my logic is "russian" but i hope you all understand me. [J]0rGe ok, for hard maps, map creator can finish with cp or ask freind to do this!!)) this idea coming from my mind, i just thinking about bmw. they are already doing cars, but they did not say, we cant driving just because we are not drivers we are car-creators! people who bying ours cars can test this on roads... - its funny. So i think mappers should show that all jumps on map are possibility! :ok:

18/04/2011 14:55:00

Hmm, the 50 posts rule is not quite the best, i usually check XJ, quite often, but rarely post anything xD so basically i'm active, but can't vote for a map that i like cause i don't ussually make comments or posts ~ quite not happy about it
