ROTW #53 - Micron on kz_tropiclimb_xp

Hello there, and welcome to the 53rd edition of the Run Of The Week!

Xtreme-Jumps presents Micron's amazing run on kz_tropiclimb_xp chosen from the #570th demo release, transformed by Airwalk Media's filmmaker BLuex into visual art, based on a new ROTW concept for longer maps. This is the first edition when we try to make the editing different so the longer maps can have a chance at being picked as well for future ROTW editions.
To put it shortly, this new concept is about picking the most interesting parts from the whole run, creating smooth transition between them to make the resulted run as unitary as possible. Basically it's about highlights from the run.
If you have any suggestions on improving this new style of ROTW, feel free to share them. Keep in mind that this is the first edition of this kind and that we will improve as they keep coming and hopefully you will like it.

Yeah, it truely is a shame that the longer maps will never be showcased properly in a rotw. However, I'd rather see a full run of a 2-3 minute map, than this, the idea is great, but it's so hard to make it work, and in most cases, sadly, like this one it kinda ruins the whole experience. - Atleast for me. For me, watching demos on long maps is one of the best parts of kz. You just kick back and relax. You didn't do that here. Good effort.

Nice run as always MicroN! Great edit (no flippin colors that make me sick). As for the idea i wouldn't mind watching a little bit longer but it's a good idea.

If you wanna do short rotw's you should stick to the short demos, compressing a demo like that made no sense to me.

Hate to say it but yeh, kinda ruins the experience. But it's also true that it's a damn shame that the longer very easilly deserved rotws go to the shorter demos. imo a hard task to even to pick the "best" moments.

I agree with ChiChiN and what the majority said. This kind of edit would really destroy the runs. When I first read "Highlights" I've expected actual Highlights, i.e. short sequences of TJ alike jumping and maybe also from a different perspective (3rd Person), but this seems more like an overview of the run. What I'd see as a possibility is to do two movies: 1. Full run 2. a movie with Highlights only. But I think this would be too much work.

Oh, no, i don't like it.. The reason why you decided to do this is unknown to me so i'll guess it's to avoid spoiling... What if you spoil the greatest run of the week ? Is downloading demos more going to make XJ bigger ? People inside XJ (that don't DL all the demos) would enjoy watching the best run and visit XJ more, spread the word and give KZ maps examples to outsiders. People outside XJ would enjoy a full "smooth" run on a KZ map and may be even more interested in the jumping community (wich is pretty important at this point, I guess). Making sort of "highlights / demo teasers" could disappoint : the interest will depend on the moviemaker's skills - ... , the length of the map will matter : imagine if the sickest demo of the week is a 2second improvement on a famous 30sec map... kindof hard to present and a bit ridiculous from my point of view...

The demo is like 8 mins long just render the movie out. YouTube is able to upload 10 mins so I cant understand why this run was highlighted.

I loved the part at 01:58 where the music starts as soon as Micron starts strafing. "For me, watching demos on long maps is one of the best parts of kz. You just kick back and relax." Agree with him.

Oh man I just love it. Such a nice idea for a rotw, it fits so good for longer maps imo. Big GJ to everyone involved! Definetly one of my favourite rotw's :)

The idea may work. It's no problem for me to watch some parts of the run but a ROTW featuring 8 minute run with a chill song is the best experience, esp on a legendary map like this. About the clip, legendary map+legendary player+good editor= :happy:

I agree that this could work to bring longer maps to ROTW, but like zgooh said, there are people like me that doesn't have access to counter-strike or kz demos and our unique and exclusive way to watch kz demos is from videos and the rotw. So, i vote for "just.kick back and relax" watching a kz' 15 minutes video. Hugs

Of course the run is awsome. The edit too but this was a pure fail. Its kinda unfair that big maps can't be ROTW's like the other maps but, at least for me, its worst to make this way. Being more stupdly would be like making a rotw for vid and other because was the best or one for big maps and other for short maps but that makes NO sense. in conclusion i think its better to chose 2-3 (maybe 4) mins maps for rotw

NOEL said what i wanted to say. I mean, i like the idea and stuff, but it won't do justice for the jumper or those who will watch it. I'm sure the majority wouldn't mind watching communityblock as a ROTW, but maybe the moviemaker at the time won't have much spare time to make such a long ROTW. And i'm sure that making longer ROTW clips is not a problem since there are a few that makes them and they have what...7 days to make it? I'm not saying that this might be an issue atm, but sometimes it might. And in that case the community would understand if you guys voted on a shorter map. It is great to see that the best part of KZ (long maps) is finally put forward. I hope the next step will be a normal speed with a decent music to enjoy the run! Showing a long map run in less time than most of the regular RoTWs is really weird imo.

Why are there always mainly complaints about the rotws in the comments section? Its no easy job doing a rotw and I think the movie makers have done reasonably good job every week

@elITe^, at best, they have only 2 days to make the clip. However, at times, significant delays occur with the release, voting or other -technical problems (and we have to change the filmmaker)- and it happens that those 2 days, transform into 2 hours. As far as editing really long runs, like in this case 8+ minutes or 10+, the filmmakers really need big hdd to capture the motion. Taking into consideration the comments, next time we will probably edit the whole run. Unfortunately I have no doubt that even then there will be people saying that they got bored watching 5 minutes run. What do you think will happen with 10 minutes ? And as a last thing, I feel like I need to make this mention because it seems like most of you guys are not aware of the ROTWs' purposes: they are _NOT_ made to show how skilfull the filmmakers are or to make from the run an editing masterpiece. They are simply made to show the run, as clean as possible, with some music, colors correction or other small editing stuffs to make the watching as enjoying as possible. One of the main reasons this series was borned was to show to the audience outside of KZ scene, how great kz is, to attract more people and for future sponsorships and partnerships.

Actually i think there are several fantanstic WR in every release . only to choose one demo makes it a little dull ,anyway i am not saying that ROTW is bad , i mean why not choose the best part of every single WR in every release and make these clips into one movie .
