New Mapcheck System

By PsYxOpAt mapper·
There have been a lot of complaints and misunderstandings about the current mapcheck system and its activity recently. Therefore, we discussed about possible improvements to our system and we are happy to present them today.

From now on both kz and custom maps can be submitted and nominated either publicly or via the old form. The mapadmins will do their regular work (checks and reviews) in our public forum now, too.

Furthermore, we lowered the kz tag standards and wrote them down in a list. Check the extended newspost for more information.

Good news :)

It's good to see something changing. I especially like the idea with the Mapvote server as I'm often too lazy to download a map and copy it in the folder just to see if it's good or not. This way I just have to connect and can test a map. I assume it's gonna be "finish map and vote"?

one thing still isn't clear. The activity of map checkers. If their activity will be the same...i'm afraid that nothing will change. This will be just another promise...like so many before. That is what has to change first. Then the map standards, which i see you guys agreed to lower (i for one congratulate you on that)

n1 changing!

sounds good but one think that is really annoying is that like 80% of the voters dont fullfit the requirements in the mapcheck forum. I already made an suggestion for that if some admin is interest to solve this: http://xtreme-jumps.eu/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?272072

Is there such a thing as a nice, detailed and official mapping tutorial released by XJ? I'd rather see something like this made than see the lowering of necessary criteria.

Excellent! Really looking forward to it

[blockquote]An online mapcheck server In the near future an online server will be hosted, where all publicly submitted and nominated maps are running. Thanks to fragility this is possible, he sponsors that server. All mappers should appreciate that offer, since it makes live-checks a lot of easier and more common. A cosy way to find and fix all bugs or mapping mistakes is by simply joining this server and listen to other members![/blockquote] Glad to hear that this will come true :)

Sounds good .. still,i hope this will improve something. The main problem was the activity by the admins .. is this changed or is it still the same as before ?

"Furthermore, we lowered the kz tag standards and wrote them down in a list. Check the extended newspost for more information." Ouch. You shouldn't lower the already low standards because current mappers are unable to produce an aesthetical map. Better keep boring stuff away, like we have always done. Whatever, I guess most people enjoy those maps where there is absolutely no difficulty, no relief. Non stop bhop is awesome, keep them coming daza your maps will eb tagged as kz_ now yeahhhh!
