Developer & Designer needed!

By Ovidiu Dumitru·
Hello community,

Two new admin positions have just opened. We are looking for:

1)Front-End developer (JS, CSS, HTML knowledge) that will work closely with our Back-End developer on building the new XJ website;
2)Designer (that will create the graphic interface of our new website) and will also work together with our current designer.

You can use this form to apply.
All applicants will be contacted shortly.
For those who desire, you can use the application for various admin positions. We will take them all under consideration.

Thank you a lot for wanting to help! We appreciate your effort!

Best regards,
XJ Staff

Need more informations, what framework are you using for example?

14/08/2016 19:34:00

Good luck to the applicants, hope you get feedback in at least a couple of months, I'm waiting for nearly a month now.

http://hapijs.com What other info would you like to know?

14/08/2016 19:51:00

@Hardbitter, we already have one applicant and he got accepted. Future is bright! But these things take time. It's not a walk in the park.

16/08/2016 10:20:00

For you even to leave a feedback in an applicants thread takes weeks or even months. Please this "everything has it's time" stopped working ages ago and I'm not even sure you still follow what case I'm talking about so I probably shouldn't even bother.

16/08/2016 21:52:00

If you are referring to your case it's been 24 days. I had the impression the case was already solved, since it was an obvious yes. But I went inactive for sometime and I lost track of some things. But now I'm trying to make things work. As evidence, this applicant I'm talking about, he got accepted in a matter of hours and it didn't pass a day and he was already talking with our backend developer. So please, would be nice and respectful to ask first when you think something is wrong. There are always 2 sides of a story.

Ye I had asked a couple of times before but the answer was always the same, that it needs a word from you, a damn word dude. And like it is everytime with you, you manage to come after a long absence, throw to the community big hopes, assure people that everything's is being taken care of and then you just gonna fade away again. I don't hesitate to speak the truth, someone has to do that, you have zero control over the community.

17/08/2016 06:56:00

Yeah, let's tell the truth. I'm the longest admin here with 10 years without leaving once XJ. I had, like any other human being with a personal life, short absences (1-2/3 months), but in that time I was still keeping track of what is going on here. I'm not throwing anything, I'm just saying what is happening. Never lied, never will. What I tell are facts, not opinions and dreams. And all of you who talk a big game about inactivity and stuff like that, it's funny how all you guys were admins how many times? Coming and going whenever you please, I lost the count. For those who really care, they never left. People like faker and oddysseus, who actually are paying money from their own pockets to keep this site technically alive. To me, these are the real admins, who actually make something for XJ. Every staff has two sides: management and general staff, which are 100% different. With all due respect and appreciation for all the hard working admins XJ had and still has, but we can't compare making a release or writing a text for frontpage with the work that is being done backstage by the management, stuffs that require money, but most of the time we are trying to do that without money, cause there are none. The website we are trying to build would normally cost at least 10k eur, but we are trying to do that for free, cause we don't have 10k. How would you do that, Hardbitter? Again, no disrespect to any admin, I've worked with some amazing guys throughout my time here, there were some really nice and dedicated people. And still are and it's a blessing to have people like that by your side.

Your words don't help CyclopP, I know you have always something to say in confront. I would have spent some time to write a post if I was at the pc right now but maybe let it wait a little bit, I'm soon gonna be home. Not that it will help the situation anyway.

17/08/2016 13:43:00

My words aren't meant to help. Just calling it as it is. Come home and help us move forward.

15/08/2016 05:50:00

When I can start?

17/08/2016 00:50:00

i believe i'm a bit pessimistic but what i see it's happening here is like this: first you say "hey, we're going to build a new, much safer, with more content site"; after a few months: "hey, how would you like the interface of the new website to look like?"; then, after a few more months: "hey, we need developers and designers". so it took you almost a year from "we're going to make a new website" to "how can we make it happen"?

17/08/2016 07:02:00

If it happened like that, yes, you would be 100% correct. But I'm afraid your timeline is not accurate. The first post I ever made about the new website (when I said that we are actually starting) was 2 months ago. Finding a team of developers to work for free, when normally they would be paid big money, isn't easy.

What's the purpose of the redesign? The webpage already works perfectly the only thing I would suggest is to try to make the current webpage work on Mobile. I would suggested the following if touch device remove all the CSS and then try to make it mobile friendly this is a better path for the main-time. A relaunch of the webpage will take a lot of time if you want the page to be perfect. I totally understand why you want to redesign the page but what is the end goal for the user? Cheers!

17/08/2016 17:45:00

The current website can't meet the demand of our needs, especially if CSGO KZ is to be implemented. And it's not just about the design. With the new website we are aiming at an user focused experienced, user friendly, highly interactive and an unified community with every KZ jumping mod. Basically, with time, we want to accomplish a self sustained community by its users. Can't say more now, but if we succeed, XJ will be something else. A level of its own.

Ovidiu Dumitru, thank you for clarifying, would be great if you would make a post about the reasons why you are making a re-launch and what to expect. And how you will improve the user experience journey for the user.

18/08/2016 13:50:00

It's a good idea, thank you. But before doing that I'd like to have some solid work on the website. I can't just hype this on and on, with the possibility of not hapenning still in the air. But all and all I think pretty much everyone knows why a change is necessary. Think blue! Ps: this application session hit its mark. Both position have been filled. Thank you.

e107 is shit, riot it is.

Good to see something going on , I can see why there is so much hate towards the silence and stuff , but we all should be glad for cyclopPs work , he is doing it of his own free will , it is not his job , so lets all just be patient and maybe try helping somehow , I can only do basic HTML & CSS but I can throw in my two cents with some design and ideas if needed. Anyway wish you good luck , would be great to see xj on a peak again.
