KZMod is now on Steam Greenlight!
Hello everyone!
I apologise for taking so long to post this, I've had a lot of stuff to do recently and not much sleep! Well, it's finally happened, KZMod has made it onto Steam Greenlight as a free game! After everything so far, now there is the possibility of being a full game on Steam, which would open many opportunities for the mod.
If you haven't heard of it, KZMod is a Source engine total conversion mod that attempts to replicate the movement physics of 1.6, with more up to date graphics and mapping options for jumping, bhop and surf, along with the other disciplines and the new ones the game adds.
Back when KZMod 2.0 was released, XJ showed a lot of hospitality and I'd like to thank the players and admins greatly for it. Lots of demos were recorded and there was plenty interest! Unfortunately a lot of effort was required by the players to download and update the game. Now we have a chance to change that, and if KZMod gets on steam, it will be a real possibility to build a playerbase in today's world of easy downloading!
On top of the easy downloading and updating, Steam offers other useful things, like easy setups for server admins, the Workshop for sharing of maps and other assets, and an easy place to find news about the game! Perhaps most importantly, the store would advertise the game to players looking for puzzle or platforming games, and would attract new players to the KZ scene in general.
The game is currently playable, and can be downloaded right here from XJ (Note that if you have played KZMod before and have the latest version 2828 (check the Game Build on the main menu at the bottom left), you don't need to download the full version again, you can get this 5mb patch instead), and you can try it out for yourself!
It's been a long journey, and now we are striving to become something even more. SoUlFaThEr is currently unwell and can't be at his computer right now, but I hope he will impressed with everything that's been accomplished so far!
