ROTW #208 - rawe on kz_space2[-md]

Today, we present you the new (and late) episode of our "Run Of The Week" series,

And this time, it's rawe on kz_space2!

Let's appreciate what the world recorder has to say about this map,

I think it started one day on the Argentinian public server we usually play in, CiNdOR^ was with me that day, and the people in the server voted kz_space.
It was the first time I played it, and of course I wanted to try the fun way, doing the shortcuts. CiNdOR^ is the kind of player that has more ease to do those kind of boost shortcuts, edgebugs, and so on, so he was trying to help me, but it was too hard for both of us to do it like it was done on the WR, so we changed to kz_space2 to see if we were able to do it with the map destroyer, but it was probably harder than kz_space.
After typing /wr and seeing that it was held by krbunny, I checked it on YouTube where I found Juice's and SAMNY's runs, that's where I saw the shortcuts and I was encouraged to try it. It took me a lot of time to "master" it, every time I was closer to gain enough consistency to do the first shortcut on run, but it still had it randomness, and I had to change the way I was doing it after a couple of fails.
At first, I was forgetting the map every run, I was constantly forgetting where to go, I don't know why, but after remembering the run, I saw that krbunny's record wasn't hard, it was pretty easy actually, since the first shortcut, even being a bit random due to the way it is, was pretty doable on run.
After a couple of tries I beat it, but with fails, I wasn't happy with my demo at all and it was the first step to start improving it, I beat it a lot of times, getting down to 01:09, which was 7 seconds better than krbunny's record, but after having researched, I knew it wasn't World Record, it was still SAMNY who officially had it, even if his demo wasn't there, his demo was actually legit, it just wasn't there because of the update of the routes, he just had to resubmit it to have it as official World Record, so I wanted to beat him, and that made me try it with the second shortcut.
After analizing the run, I made to the conclusion that I was even able to beat Juice's cheated time, 01:02, but I just couldn't get both shortcuts in one run. There were two ways of doing the second shortcut, like Juice or like SAMNY, which meant straight from the ramp to the timer, or to the final boxes, which costed me a couple of seconds. It took me several hours of trying, probably due to my lack of knowledge about these kind of shortcuts, I just couldn't get consistency on it, in my head, it was random, so I was just repeating it again and again with the same mentality, "one attempt will be succesful", but I just wasn't.
It wasn't until I realised I had to spam my mouse wheel and pray for the best that I did the World Record. After watching I beated SAMNY's WR I had two feelings, relief and disappointment...
I don't know if disappointment is the right word, but I wanted to beat Juice's time, because I knew I was able to, but sadly I didn't.
I already failed before the run I wanted, I missed the surface of the rock that has the timer on it, only by a couple of units, and that was a 01:02 run, probably beating Juice's time (01:02.80), and that would've meant making a truly World Record on that map, but after trying it so much, 01:05 was a good time, I was just tired of trying the map again and again with so few success.
Tt was a good journey, even though I'm not a "shortcut maps player", I think I did a good job, and even though I could've done better, I'm still happy with my demo, and to know that I have the World Record on a map that I didn't even think about one week before.
