XJ Renaissance: Kreedz.com Summer Tournament 2024 [$2550 Prize Pool]
Dear Kreedz Community,
The wait is finally over! Kreedz.com is excited to announce our first tournament since the site's revival, and it's just the beginning of many more to come. As you can see, the first thing to note here is that we have just set the bar for the highest prize pool ever recorded on the website's history. And in order to celebrate that, we have come up with new plugins, an unique map pool for each stage, and a modified format that is slightly different from the ones of previous years.
Thanks to CyniuThunder for the teaser!

• Tournament Format:
The tournament will be split into three main stages/phases, each with its own unique format and map pool:
1. Qualifiers
• UNLIMITED amount of players in a Melee style format (everyone vs everyone) based on 6 maps. EVERY player will play EVERY map.
• The best 16 players advance
• Everyone else is eliminated.
• Average cup time will depend on the map, but it will be generally between 2 to 7 minutes.
• Advancement and seeding for the next stage will be dependant on the following:
- Overall best time on average from all 6 maps.
*Click here to see an example of how a tournament QUALIFIER could look like (Disclaimer: this example has only 4 players advancing, the real tournament will have 16)
2. Swiss System Group
• Classic 1v1 matches
• 16 players Swiss System Group
• 5 rounds total. If you win 3 matches, you qualify for the playoffs. If you lose 3 matches, you are eliminated
• The first two rounds will use the seeding based on the Qualifier results (1 vs 16, 2 vs 15 etc.)
• The last three rounds will use the Buchholz system, which will automatically seed all the remaining matches (2:0 vs 2:0 ; 0:2 vs 0:2 ; 1:1 vs 1:1 and etc.)
• All matches are going to be Bo3.
• 8 players advance, and 8 players are eliminated
• If you have troubles remembering how the Swiss system works, click HERE to see a swiss tournament test tree, which we will be updating LIVE during the tournament.
3. Double Elimination Playoffs
• Classic 1v1 matches
• Standard 8 players double elimination playoffs bracket rules, every player has two lives, except for the upper bracket winner in the Grand Finals.
• All matches until the Grand Final and the Consolidation Final are Bo3 (best of three)
• The Grand Final and the Consolidation Final are Bo5 (best of five)
• The winner of the Upper Bracket final will have an advantage in the Grand Final. He will be able to ban two maps, instead of just one per player.
• Opening matches' seeding will be based on the results from the Swiss Group Stage (Standard 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and etc.)
• Click HERE to see how double elimination playoffs format looks like from previous XJ tournaments.
• Map Pool and Map Veto Rules:
This tournament would try to provide a variety of map choices which could fit every player's style. Therefore we tried to be as diverse as possible, while also going for map picks which are uncommon for previous tournaments. As for the map difficulty, in normal XJ tournaments, it would raise with each stage, however we have decided to keep the majority of the maps at easy to average difficulty. For hard and above, we have other plans for the not-too-distant future. :)

2. Map Veto:
We are going to use the standard 7 map pool for the Bo3/Bo5 matches in which:
- Player 1 bans a map
- Player 2 bans a map
- Player 1 picks a map
- Player 2 picks a map
- Player 1 bans a map
- Player 2 bans a map
- Last map is left as the decider
*For Bo5 Consolidation Final, both players ban only 1 map.
*For Bo5 Grand Finals, the upper bracket player will have 2 map bans.
*The order of who bans first is completely random, except for the Grand Finals.
3. Types of maps:
As you can see from the map pool, for 1v1s we have the following philosophy:
2 bhop maps
2 climb maps
2 mix maps [climb + bhop + slide + lj or other]
1 specialist map [the more niche type of maps such as longjump, slide, and etc.]
As previously mentioned, the idea is to cater to the majority of playstyles, even though as you can see, the focus is still mostly on classic bhop and climb maps, but with the opportunity of choosing something different from time to time.
