XJ Highlight: CS1.6 HDR RTX Ray Traced Remake: Sead on awp rooftops - by Sead

For all the KZ movies enthusiasts, especially the ones who enjoy 3D stuff, high quality textures and environmental world details reconstructed in different engines, recent times have been really interesting to say the least. Just a couple days ago, we had the Run Of The Release #5 video by Shad0ws with the entire misti’s run rendered in the Unreal Engine. Today we would like to highlight 2S!3K-Sead’s newest creation – a remake of his 13 years old movie.

2S!3K-Sead’s presence in the KZ moviemaking space has left indelible imprint on the history of the community. His older productions were released many years ago and they remember days of the golden era of KZ moviemaking. In recent years, he focused on recreating his previously premiered movies, giving them second life by increasing the resolution, fixing bugs, improving the quality and recreating goldsrc engine worlds in various different 3D softwares.

‘Sead on awp_rooftops’ was originally released on 3rd of February 2011 (still available here). His 2024 remake version instantly welcomes us with a mood switch in comparison to his initial version of the movie: roofs previously brightened by soft smooch of the sun rays have been replaced with a atmospheric rainy day with a raging thunderstorm illuminating the cloudy sky. Reflective surfaces are now painting a beautiful picture, mirroring the world in the crystal clear puddles. Rain drops bouncing off of different areas of the map, including weapon models held by a player, are definitely details worth highlighting, as they create a more immersive feeling.

Beams of sunlight, lens flares, city lights, spinning AC fans, extended world seen behind all the high buildings across this legendary map – it all creates an unique and fabulous experience different from more “standard” KZ movies.

For anyone interested in the process of creating this movie, 2S!3K-Sead has been posting a lot of ‘behind the scenes’ footage on XJ’s discord (join the XJ discord here if you haven't already). It is also worth it to check out the video description on youtube, where the creator himself describes all the changes and motivations that pushed him to rework the movie.
