Kreedz.bg Map of the Day + New Youtube Channel

Map of the Day

Greetings community,

I am excited to officially announce a new competitive server format called 'Map of the Day' which is hosted in collaboration by one of our official kreedz partnership communities -  kreedz.bg (discord channel)

The idea is simple: Every day the server would pick a random map that would be played for 23 hours and 30 minutes straight. The format begins at 00:00 CET and ends at 23:30 CET. There will be a 30 minute break between the change of one map to another. Furthermore, there will be two automated announcements which would warn all of you 15 minutes before the end of the format and 15 minutes before the start of the next one. 

The goal for any player is to achieve their best possible time on the current map. The winner is the player with the fastest time at the end of the day. 

Since the plan is to run this format on a monthly basis in the future, there is a MOTD leaderboard that would track the players with the most amount of MOTD wins. 

We already had some tests during our alpha season, but right now we will be entering our beta phase. In time, we will move on to Season 1, which would include:

• • • Monthly prizes for the player with the most amount of wins
    • Historical leaderboards
    • Seasonal winner badges
    • Special kreedz.com MOTD page
    • ... and even more features in the future!

Right now, you can already see the current best run on the left sidebar of the website, with a link to the current leaderboards.

Current Prize Pool

To celebretate the inauguration of the format and to further experiment during the beta season, kreedz.bg have already offered the following prize pool:

- 30 EUR for first place + 1 month  VIP in their servers for the player who ends up with the most amount of wins after 4 weeks.
- The competition will begin tonight at 00:00 CET, and it will end on the 6th of May, 23:30 CET.
- You can additionally donate here if you are interested in increasing the prize pool.

New kreedz.com Maps and MOTD

To further incentivize mappers, we have decided to prioritize newly released Kreedz.com maps on the MOTD server.

This means that whenever a new map is released, you will be able to play it immediately on the MOTD server, starting at the usual 00:00 CET.

New Kreedz.com Youtube Channel

We would like to introduce you to our new Kreedz.com Youtube Channel: KREEDZcom Records!
This channel will be dedicated for all the clean (non-edited) demo recordings and various world records (map runs, longjump records etc.).

Many of you have noticed that some time ago, almost all of WR releases and other clean demo recordings were hidden on the main channel and therefore some of you had problems with finding them on youtube. All the latest recordings were also automatically unlisted. This inconvenience was accounted for but necessary for all the upcoming changes. Even with some temporary helping tools, like the additional channel on our discord with all the unlisted vids (as described HERE under point 4), we knew it is quite annoying to browse it through. Hopefully this won't be an issue anymore!

From now on, all the new run recordings, longjump records etc. will be posted on the new channel, all publicly available. Previously hidden vids from the main channel will be slowly reintroduced to the new one. So step by step, all the records will be back, public and 'searchable' on youtube. The main channel will remain dedicated to the edited stuff, world record run edits, longjumps record edits, trickjumping movies and all other edited stuff.

Was it all necessary in the first place? Well, it wasn't any recent idea and we went through many different discussions beforehand. After running through various analytics analyses it became even more clear that a separate channel is the way to go. Usually all those recordings were uploaded in a bunch, especially during WR releases, multiple videos that were released at the exact same time, leading to most of them being barely viewed. This had impacted the algorithm very negatively and it has been doing damage to the channel for years. Initially, when kz moviemaking became more stagnant, it might've sounded like good idea to get something going on the channel. It's also definitely way more convenient to just search the demo quickly or even click the link directly linked in the newspost and watch the run, than to download the map, download the demo and run it through cs. But that came with the cost and since it was done on the main channel, with addition of few other issues, uploads were not even reaching most of the audience. 

While some of the damage might be irreversible, we believe that separating into two channels might bring some of the healing into the main channel. This is only one of steps of upcoming changes. We would love to bring back at least a piece of the channel's legacy, when it was all strictly about edited, quality stuff for many, many years.
