Archive recovery & in-browser map viewer

Greetings, everyone! We recently announced a major round of updates to the website last week, but we've since completed another significant batch of improvements that deserved its own announcement.

 

We've just finished a major overhaul of the Kreedz.com archive, making it more complete, faster, and easier to navigate than it has been in years.

 

Demo downloads are back

 

Over the past days we've been digging through old backups, archives, and storage to recover as much of the historical demo library as possible. A huge portion of released records now have their demo files available again, and you can download them straight from the record page. Huge thanks to D2B for his backup.

Not every single run from the entire history of the site is back yet, but the gap is much smaller than it was, and we'll keep hunting for the rest over time. Approximately 10 000 demos have been recovered, out of a total of 12 000.

 

Explore maps in your browser

 

There's also something new on the viewing side: you can now roam released maps directly in your browser, without loading a demo at all.

Want to scout a route before you jump in-game? Curious what a map looks like? Just open the map viewer from the record page and fly around the BSP in 3D.

 

How to use it: on a map's record page, use the browser viewer option: example. For map-only exploration, you'll land in free-roam mode on the map. For demos, pick a run that supports in-browser viewing.
