Premiere: topoviygus on kz_synergy_x
I believe this map needs no introduction to anyone even mildly interested in KZ. Neither do the player, as he has been the #1 for the longest period of time across all the history of KZ World Records (over 5 years according to KZ Rank 1 History). However leaving no comment would feel out of place and even after some time, it's worth sharing a few words about both.
Back in December, we were graced by one of the greatest special releases of all time, where topoviygus managed to beat 96 (100 initially) world records (topoviygus' special release - 96 New World Records). With such an abundance of runs, it's not easy to pick the best one, especially as opinions and preferences vary. Nonetheless it is a fact, that his world record on kz_synergy_x has gotten the most attention and brought the most eyes, especially if we go by 'views' across the whole release based on numbers on our second channel. And for the good reason. Watching it over and over doesn't get boring, it is a pure pleasure for kz maniacs, who get an enjoyment from watching such a smooth and well executed combinations of movement techniques, that in result merge into nearly a flawless World Record. I think that many of us will agree with words of rawe, who had the pleasure of spectating this run live - 'what a demon'. Nuff said.
kz_synergy_x, a map released by pLANE back in 2010 has been definitely one of the most influential maps over the years. It required a lot of skill, did not forgive much and made even the best players fail multiple times across previous world record runs. heL^_x, M@UGLI, kQbmig, LEWLY, hXc, shNz, patchouli - over last 16 years, this map has been stepped on by the greatest players through many generations. On top of that, it also had an impact on visual map choices - while I'm unsure if this was the first map that introduced this theme of darker maps, heavily underlined and brightened by neon lamps all over it (mappers - feel welcome to comment on that), it definitely sparked an avalanche of comments like 'oh, another synergy_x clone' to maps with similar theme.
Today's dish is being served on a plate scuplted by none other than godc, who's edits were already presented on our channel few times before. This time he allows us to totally sink in a rich and dark atmosphere throughout the entire movie. Perfectly encapsuled feeling of unease is our main travel companion, as we slowly discover each and every step of topoviygus' journey. We are dropped right into action, in the middle of the map, no direction, no guidelines and no certainity of safety. The overwhelming darkness is pouring on us like the Infamous Blood Elevator Scene from Kubric's 'The Shining'. The music choice laid a perfect foundation for what we're about to experience. Like a trail of a ghost, you follow it and immerse yourself deeper with every second, down to the deepest layers of fear. All that is wrapped up with few simple but effective camera shots and topped off with godc's trademarked, well synced effects throughout the entire run. Definitely my favorite godc's edit so far, hopefully some of you will share the same impression.
