Okay, here's the drill people, it looks like XJ is in a bit of trouble.
The people currently sponsoring XJ with webspace have decided to charge money for their services, money that we dont have. That's why we need you, the community. We need you to donate money to save XJ!

All the donated VIP money will be used to cover our expenses and the extra money will be used for further XJ projects that will bring a lot of fun for the community and/or more features for the VIP users.

    You can donate without a credit card, too. You'll just need a bank account and send some money to your paypal account first (normal bank transfer).

    Donated already :) This should be the post you guys are making. If you want to show your part of the community do it. I'm tired of hearing you guys say these one word post. Put some time into it. Especially the ones who wonder why they never get chosen to become the next admin on XJ. Seriously. At least try and make a difference.     Man it sucks that the sponsors did that. But as I always said, XJ gotta be the only place in the world who has 50.000 users and still doesn't have any "real" sponsors/partners. It's weird, faker why don't you send out applications to some, ect, steelseries, razer, logitech, microsoft and all those. I think there is a lot more to gain. This gold, silver and bronze _can_ destroy the spirit of XJ. If there is such a thing. Is is really necesarry faker, a VIP area? I think it sounds like some bullshit, but what do I know. Maybe you should've tried just with donations, and checked if anyone would have been interested in monthly donations, like on wikipedia and stuff like that. But once again I gotta say, 50.000 members, and a usergroup who is so entuisiastic, I actually never seen anything like it is in here. If you made a low/sidebanner with their logo or something, and calling them partners instead of sponsors, I think there would be a lot to gain. How about using some of those money to search for a real manager, with monthly fees. I'm sure that in 1-2 months he would be able to gather a whole lot of sponsorships.

Denmark have pretty easy with getting sponsors/partners. It's always bad to call them sponsors, that's more negative, where partners is more possitive. They don't have to necessarily be older, though. I know that when I was 13 I was very mature for that age. My point - I really do think that the ignorant people you're talking about are a minority in this community. If you visit some public servers outside of XJ (digital-tech?! :P), I'm sure you'll find many people who are more grown up, and frankly, more intelligent, than many of the people who post comments, etc. on XJ. However, the problem is that when these innocently stupid people comment on news posts, post on the forums, write things in the shoutbox, or whatever; it drives away the higher-quality members. I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent person (although sometimes I can be a little goofy :P), and when I see that 95% of the comments on a particular newspost are made up of "lolol nice", "omgz0r gg", "that's senseless!", and I could keep going; it completely takes away my motivation to comment myself, or to participate in discussions, at all. So basically what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't let these members get you down. You should always know that there are more mature people lurking this website, whose views of certain topics are more than just "lolol nice". /end rant (sometimes it's necessary :P)

    I agree with you faker. However, I don't think you're handling it too well right now... Your comment could have been much, MUCH more effective had you ended it with what you said to me. The best way to treat immature kids is to ignore them. If you have a little brother you would know that, I believe. :P That goes to Fire, Pf0llz0r, and anyone else who was going to write something back to Sleijeri, too. When he wrote that comment he had only one objective, whether he was aware of it or not - he wanted to cause a fuss, to "stir things up", if you will. It's all very psychological, even if he does it subconsciously. If he sees that no one responds to him, that no one gives him the time of day, that he doesn't get any attention - he will stop commenting. The minute you're responding to him, that just tells him that he's achieved his target. To be honest, the fact that I'M giving so much attention to him right now is not very good either. However, it's better to use him as an example and never have to speak of this again with others like him. The problem with this community right now is that all of the immature, indignant people (kids OR adults) are feeding off of each other. The way to solve this problem? I'm not exactly sure right now. Is the best way just to ban all of these people? I don't think so. Unfortunately, these little pests make up the majority of the people who comment, post, and whatever. If they are all gone, it will just lead to the community's inactivity and in the end, downfall. As far as I know, every community has good members and bad ones. The problems occur once the bad members are responsible for the majority of the community's activeness. This is not an unsolvable problem, though! As I stated before, the bad members are the MINORITY in this community. They are the MAJORITY of the website's activeness, but the MINORITY overall. From what I can deduct, the best solution is to have all of the better members of the community comment, post, and take a bigger part in the engagements and activities of the community. This is not easy. It is, in fact, very hard... Usually the good members are the ones who are driven away by the bad ones, who have "better things to do", who have real lives, etc... I honestly hope you overcome this problem. As for myself? I'll try to be a little bit more active. However, it has to be a team effort. If every one of the good members becomes just a little bit more involved, this community will get stronger. It will have a better image, sponsors will be more interested, the kz community will look better in the eyes of the rest of the CS world, and so on... *By the way, when I said that I don't think banning people is the solution, I meant that I don't thinking banning ALL the people is the solution. A few bans here and there could light a red bulb in some of the troublemakers' minds (no, not TROUbl3m4k3R). An improvised (and a bit harsher) set of rules probably wouldn't hurt the good members, either. Good luck, s1gh

Lets say you get $500 every month from users. Thats $6000 each year. Is that a good amount of money or way too bad? I've seen many websites and communities which suddenly get into economical trouble, but many of them don't explain why, or they say " [i]we need money to be able to run the site so keep up the donations[/i]. A tiny explanation will probably make people unsure what to do. For some people 7,5 is much money especially when it's a monthly payment. For me it would feel much better if i could donate a bigger amount of money. Maybe every 6 month, maybe yearly or maybe it would be enough with just 1 big donation. I like this community more than many counter strike related websites. Without it, kz will probably lose alot of players. That's why i would like to donate money, but before I do that i would like to hear a better explanation than the one posted here. Hope it will make me donate. /Igge

Currently im not donating, because i cant register on PayPal with my credit card - well thats because im not that old, and cant get a credit card which i can use on PayPal..     Ah, and to answer your questions: At the moment the money will be used for the expenses we have to pay (out of a sudden)... this means ~150€. At the moment XJ is running on 3 servers, one for both gameservers, one for the homepage and another one for the files (demos, movies, etc.). We had to reduce the gameserver slots lately cause they were causing too much traffic AND the hoster of the files started to demand money for the server (and the last months). In the future we're lookin forward to get our own root/dedicated server to run the website, the files and maybe 1 other gameserver at our OWN server. This will make like 150-200€ per month. Be sure that you all are going to benefit... cause it means... more space for movies, faster downloads, more projects to come etc etc :) Atm we already collected 50€, 25 more to come if the donations that are still open are being closed. So it's a good start I guess. Thanks to everyone who donated and showed that he or she cares about the future of this community. cheers

    i will donate too, and get vip gold! i am not that super pro jumper with the goal to get records or something like that! it´s all bout the fun with KZ! i am a hard working person in RL and kz is my way to become relaxed after work! and cause XJ is the place to be on if it goes to KZ i have no problem with it to donate some money, to keep XJ alive! and if i get something for it even better!! so it will take some days cause reg, transfer to paypal and then to "fakers weekend fund :)" isnt a thing for 1 day.     surely with the amount of admins within this website, the admins can muster up 150 euros? 150 euros really isnt that much to pay to keep a serious part of your livelyhood alive....It is their site after all and to run a successful company/website you gotta put in the money to make it work...just seems all a bit dodgy to me, i know you almost definitely have good intentions with the money but where is the proof? just my 2 cents i guess

    how in any way did that reply to any of the points i raised fire? 1. i have no idea how many admins you have, but id guess a fair amount to make the split of 150 euros fairly manageable. 2.'we all have lives'...your point? i would have thought XJ i an integral part of your lives if you run this website seriously, in fact youre only reinforcing my points by saying that so i actually cant deduce whether youre agreeing or disagreeing with me. 3. so splitting 150 euros between 9 head admins means ~16.7 euros per admin.
