An admin left our staff!

By —·
Hi!

I'm sad to announce that DerKleineNils have to leave the Xtreme-Jumps adminstaff. The reason why he was kicked out was that he couldn't handle the channel rules (the language-rule) and that he didn't have enough english skills.

And as you have noticed, we haven't hosted so many cups lately. We are trying to change that and we are currently searching for a solution for this problem.

11/09/2005 14:55:00

cu nils :(

25/11/2009 11:53:00

why do u make any one poll?... the decimals won ...

25/11/2009 12:21:00

????? A poll for record holders was asked and was considered as good idea, that's why me made a second poll for record holders only, to see if the results are the same.

25/11/2009 13:51:00

xj need a change.

25/11/2009 14:30:00

they will just vote 'no' cause they want to keep their records. they want their name on the page not for the game to move forward.

25/11/2009 15:41:00

Exactly what Hazard said.

25/11/2009 15:43:00

Good idea faker

25/11/2009 15:43:00

+1 hazard. I just want to add that you shouldnt judge the final descision by this vote, since all the other users are also potential record holders.. all of them.

25/11/2009 15:53:00

Haha, this is pretty lame. But it will be fun to see what the other record holders vote. Doesn't look so good so far... I (of course) voted YES.

25/11/2009 16:51:00

Yes of course, even though I think the result's gonna be "no" because current WR holders want to save their demos :)

25/11/2009 16:58:00

This is like one of the retardest ideas ever, lol. Why should the WR holders decide a change which is important for the whole community? So if there are 5% record holders and they dont want such change, XJ wont make it? So the other 95% are just useless registrations/sign ups? Should we (the guys who haven't had a WR) leave XJ then? You should see everyone as a potential WR holder. And I'd quote puppetz here:
Haha, this is pretty lame.
25/11/2009 17:46:00

My vote: Yes.

25/11/2009 17:58:00

Absolutely positively big fat YES. Time for the record holders to get with it also, and stop beeing so dramatic and afraid. And I agree with what some of you guys said that I hope this wont decide whether we change or not. 100% of the community as future record holders gets affected by this and not only the 5%~ of the current wr holders. Esp since the last poll had 67% yes votes and 33% no, or something.

25/11/2009 19:55:00
Why should the WR holders decide a change which is important for the whole community?
Who said that? Here at XJ, polls are used to collect and show the opinions of the crowd out there and to check if it agrees with the staff's view on it and help the staff to decide wheter a change should be implemented or not. Always been like that. Of course we try to do the things the community wants to have, therfore nearly all topic results were implement. The staff's opinion is positive towards this, the community's opinion is positive towards this, too... so this is probably going to happen anyway. However some people asked to make a seperated topic for the record holders, and thefore we did it. a) They are affected the most anyway and b) What harm could be done? If they vote no, what I don't think is going to happen, it's giving us a harder decision, yeah, but it still depends on how many guys vote yes/no etc. That's all imo.

25/11/2009 20:30:00

People seem to want that this community becomes "democratic" and all decisions are made entirely from polls which everyone can contribute to. I can't think of any such cases of democracy in the real world. That would just be stupid and silly. And I just wanted to say, that when I said this was lame, I meant that it was kind of lame to make a poll about this (even when it's not really going to change anything) 'cause I didn't think the other admins would actually listen to a few people requesting this (pretty stupid idea, omilo said why).

26/11/2009 01:06:00

@faker, RecordHolders voted on the public vote and now the vote for the second try. We want another poll for Warned guys. pretty please?

26/11/2009 01:30:00

nah, warned people are simply part of outlaw, don't give the vote rights to dregs, but poll for moviemakers would be pretty cool.

26/11/2009 01:44:00

I voted yes.. I am so tired of see demos beaten by same time with 0,04 sec of difference and then if I someone want to beat again the map should make 1 sec better, LAME. So go for more XJ.

26/11/2009 06:26:00

And nobody posted a comment that voted for no? haha, sure feel the shame because your "don't want to lose wrs" reason is lame as hell.

26/11/2009 07:26:00

@ ^ i voted no because even though i will probably never hold a record, i love watching the demos. Watching a demo that's .3 seconds faster only because somebody made a smaller strafe in a bhop line isn't that amazing. at least if it's 1 second faster there's a chance they skipped a block or something different earning them that extra second.

26/11/2009 09:51:00

I voted no aswell, for the same reason as Jyue.

26/11/2009 10:40:00

same as jyue and sbzvln + nowdays kelta and shnz proves that even short maps with unbeatable hels and kunquis records are beatable, often with more than 1-2 seconds

26/11/2009 19:09:00

changing to decimals is very good idea and has many positive aspects. tho i voted NO "loosing wrs" argument is just pathetic imo. well yeah, under 30 seconds maps probably will suffer right after this system gets accepted, but most maps can still be beaten by 1 second at least. its a matter of how fast you should be to get a wr. beating a wr by 1 second makes more sence for me rather than by 0.1 ... more deserved. you can do exactly identical run or a bit worse, and if you get few fps drops and waula - you get less slowdown after landing for example, not quite fun to watch such records... (also agree with jyue) at least for now its not needed imo, wrs can still be beaten and they actually are. it will probably be good change just when there are much less demos submitted.

26/11/2009 19:11:00

sorry for dp what I actually meant in the last sentenceis: it will DEFENATELY be good change... in the future

26/11/2009 19:58:00

faker will loose downfall ! historical demo also hanniball ... :E

26/11/2009 20:23:00

I know what MY record will broken if i will vote "YES", but i vote for it anyways..

26/11/2009 22:26:00

lets go sort lj records to real distance record

27/11/2009 02:52:00

@ jyue, spr1n and sbzvln - explain to me the difference of a 4 minute map being beaten by 1 second and a 1 min map being beaten by .2? kthnx oh and secondly i think alot of you are missing what kunqui reiterated. some maps are currently being beaten by less than 1 second but i dont see you complaining about that :S maybe if it was your record being beaten you would...

27/11/2009 03:13:00

As said as in the last poll, you NEVER have to watch any of the demos. They are there to se records, not record just so you can watch. No one is even forcing you to watch them. If it's beaten within 1 second time, why bother watching, it'll be the same as the old demo with just a minor difference, now if there was a new SC, THEN watch it. I don't get why you would make a mark as watching them when the records are recorded and set to be records, not things to watch. We have people look boom.dll to make battle movies to watch the close records.

27/11/2009 14:41:00

Just as XsilentXbyteX said, its your choice to choose whether or not you watch the demos. Ofcourse demos will still be beaten by full seconds, decimals wont change much except in the shorter maps - decimals are the fair way to go.
faker will loose downfall ! historical demo also hanniball ... :E
Records are made to be broken, the records will still have a "legendary" status and also the recorders themselves. You people who voted NO are just selfish!!!1

27/11/2009 14:57:00

Many people here say that they don't want to see records beaten with 0,1 seconds. That's not only a bad argument because WRs aren't made specifically for your viewing pleasure, but the system has always been like that. 39,99s beats 40,00s, doesn't it? Now the change we want is that 39,98s beats 39,99s.

27/11/2009 18:34:00

Absolutely YES.

27/11/2009 19:52:00

btw, why isn't invisibility plugin allowed?

27/11/2009 22:36:00

Im very disapointed... I expected discussing with arguments etc. but its mostly silly attacks toward "oponents". 1. I think we all understand that its not just about "watching" demos. "dont do- if you dont like it" is just extrimity treatment and not good argument when discussing decision before its made. 2. even if WR times were counted by minutes not seconds - they still can be beaten by 0.1 seconds, thats obvious... the difference is that with decimals records can be beaten by 0.01 evry time, and I think people mean they dont like that (not just fact of single 0.01 sec improvement). current system allows that just when dealing with real seconds. the same way I can say why WRs with 0.01 seconds accuracy are bad using 0.001 seconds and so on. AND THAT FACES US to the fact that people just say wich counting methond they think is more justified, but not why its is. just a few do. so what I personally wanna say about it, that seconds, as they are now, provide enough accuracy for beating WRs. getting faster WRs with decimals is defenately good idea, but its quite radical change. so since there are enough WRs uploaded and 1 second improvement feels more deserved (even if real difference is 0.1 its still the other second) - I think this change is not quite needed at the moment... tho Im quite sure this system will be accepted, I still had to write this monologue. kz[a] Hazard, it should be .25 not .2 ... or 5 instead of 4... the difference is that jumper dont need to luck +0.25 each minute on 4 minute map, but just to make some small part 1 second faster and the rest ~the same. secondly, my kz_man_eznasa was beaten by the same time but without timerbug, much less than a second. Why should I complain about it? It is a deserved record in my opinion since my 40 seconds were not actually real.

28/11/2009 02:40:00

spr1n you say that your eznasa was beat with the same ingame time but with better real time in less then a second. I say what about the people who get same ingame time as WR and a faster real time with 1 or more seconds, but they don't get the WR anyway beacuse the old WR had a big timer bug? He should'nt get the wr even though he really is that much faster? The reason for a lof of people who vote no seems to be that they don't want to see demos with small improvments. So obviusly a simple argument for people who are for this change is "don't watch it then". There has been overwhelming arguments for this change but the only argument i've seen against it has been that "i don't want to see same wr over and over" argument. It just isn't good enough to not change it. I don't see why we can't change this now instead of the future like you say. It has to be done at one point anyway, right? Why make recorders waist their time with beating demos with wrong times and possibly not getting WR's because of the bugged ingame timer? All this plus atleast 10 other arguments i've said earlier > Same wr over and over or 0.01 faster isn't deserved (imo).

28/11/2009 03:29:00

+1 omilo

28/11/2009 07:42:00

spr1n the reason its half assed arguing i assume is cause everyone has said everything they have to say. the other forum and poll was discussed thouroughly and tbh im sick of saying the same shit over and over again, thats why i said .2 instead of .25 etc. im just sick of it rofl....(if u check the old poll im sure u'll find i've said it like 5 times) im also sick of people arguing no, its impossible to ignore the insurmountable arguments in favour of changing. its clear that its the best option so out of frustration im just gonna tell all those idiots who voted no to fuck off. im sick of it. everyone with half a brain can see that decimals are both necessary and a positive change. so im not gonna post in here again cause its so monotonous and tedious. LATERZ

28/11/2009 13:53:00

Hazard, that is the best point right there with the 4 minute map getting beaten by 1 second is the same as .25 on a 1min map. Best point so far, thats the discussion killer right there :)

28/11/2009 14:09:00

omilo, I believe such cases are solved with the same new "antitimerbug issue rule" by calculating real seconds and comparing seconds of the real time... im sorry if im wrong about it and its actually not that way, coz it should be like that according to the rule in my opinoin. Saying "don't watch it then" and "you just dont wanna see small improvements over and over" is not quite discussion. well, I already said about 1st one before. too bad people having such "arguments" (dont get me wrong, I mean NO-side people too by that). so mostly people dont even try to understand their oponents and its mostly just about what people like... personally I wasnt saying what I want or what I like, I was talking about what is more justified/necessary and why. I completely understand opinions of the most people and respect them, but unfortunately not manys want to try to understand my opinion. "why not now insted of the future?" - cause I said that I dont find it necessary at the moment, but it might be in the future... in my opinion, and I said why I've seen your arguments omilo, but systems necessity still not as obvious for me. most of the arguments stand for why its nice, and just two for why its necessary. well I understand that this change will be accepted in the end, and im not trying to stop it. I just want to say my own opinion about this and make people to understand and think about it, so this change can be accepted not just because people like it, but understand it too kz[a] Hazard, im sorry, I've read just some comments coz there are like just 1 or 2 reasonable opinions out of 20. I respect your opinion, but still dont understand your point. You've asked good question in obvious intention to make conclusion of the answer and compare/provide argument and discuss it, but unfortunately you stopped right there. well and not evrything as obvious as you find it to be... Is it positive change? yes, its really is. Is it necessary? here I doubt and this aspect has many sides wich I think we are tryng to discuss here. ps. sorry for mistakes

28/11/2009 17:19:00

i voted no, same reason as jyue, absolutely not to save my demos, cause i know my maps are not small enough for me to be afraid for this rule.

28/11/2009 17:20:00

moreover i have many potential wrs that would be wrs with the new rule but it doesnt make me vote yes.

28/11/2009 18:11:00

jyue vote no and gave an argument and all the other people who voted NO seem to be for the same reason as jyue .... If your demo is 00:00:01 faster, it should be the wr .

29/11/2009 01:56:00

so, we should say good bye to Kreedz? the guy who created this beautiful cs mod? hi eDark!

29/11/2009 18:51:00

for don't have probleme with timerbug etc creat a good plug , all player record with the same = no probleme with many rules, because after 0.1 you want a new rules 0.01 after 0.001 etc what you don't take directly the 0.0001? it's the same

30/11/2009 18:06:00

@ cAhz0r kreedz doesn't equal a messed up timer.

30/11/2009 23:59:00

Seriously, what's the point to see at every release a short map beat by 0.01 sec ? Just because the guy was lucky at the button press ?

01/12/2009 10:00:00

ye +1 slayer

01/12/2009 10:33:00

many people vote yes because he make 1demo or + have the same timer ingame but beat 0.1 / 0.01 the wr and he don't have the skill for made more just for that . it's just for take celebrity or just for say i have a wr etc but you just beat it by 0.01 waou skill off :/ but when you beat a wr by 1sec now you're a good specially when the wr is hard or saying unbeatable. you want a wr ? faker delete my wr please now you have a easy wr to beat just send the 1st demo and you have a wr and GJ for that

02/12/2009 17:07:00

Stop talking shit, please. Go to CC and see how many demos are beaten by 0.01? I remember only 1 so far (there might be more, but the max sum of them would be less than 5). A faster demo should be the WR, I really don't see what are you still discussing about.

02/12/2009 17:35:00

JUST MAKE IT .1 SECONDS AND WE ALL BE HAPPY. If you beat a 1:00+ demo by just .1 seconds that takes skill haha. 00:00.x is enough imo.

03/12/2009 23:05:00

+1 Nikolaa

07/12/2009 03:39:00

after a break i am ready to post in here again. lulz0r. so basically, what you're saying *Np_O*, is that it takes no skill to beat a wr by .1? so in essence EVERY single demo on this website took no skill to perform? ah k i see your point....wait... again everyone is missing the point. this is the the (self proclaimed?) official world record community website - meaning all official world records are submitted and shown on the site. this is not done specifically for you to watch and comment on - although that seems to be the main reason for both people submitting and people visiting these days (but thats another issue) they are here to display the world record, and imo THAT should be THE fastest time - regardless of how much it is beaten by. and from the looks of it, both polls agree - so i look forward to seeing how/when these changes are made also maybe some communication from the admins on where they are at every so often would be appreciated. pZ~

08/12/2009 02:09:00

It is as if everyday people beat cg_coldbhop_v2 with 55.xx time and they are all cut out since decimal system is not used. I wonder why then it took so long for hel to beat it? Just look at record beating history... cg_coldbhop_v2 KeltA 00:54 2009-12-05 cg_coldbhop_v2 heL^_x 00:55 2009-06-24 cg_coldbhop_v2 DotAntipro 00:56 2009-03-20 cg_coldbhop_v2 Bibo 00:56 2008-09-04 cg_coldbhop_v2 Z0ck3rOO7 00:58 2007-10-19 cg_coldbhop_v2 Z0ck3rOO7 00:59 2007-06-12 cg_coldbhop_v2 007 01:00 2007-02-14 cg_coldbhop_v2 Z0ck3rOO7 01:02 2007-01-05 You really think that so many players are able to perform WR times +00.xx seconds improvements?

09/12/2009 15:00:00

Can't really help to think about how 00:00.0x timers effect the jobs of democheckers. There's really gonna be alot more demos in the future releases and democheckers might get frustrated -> hire more "personnel" more often. +1 Supa 00:00.x is sufficient imo.
