KZ-History

By kz`Moxx mapper·
As you might have seen there's a new tab in the menu called "KZ-History", on this page your can read all about the history of kz, fps-death, how cups started and much much more.
I hope it will be a pleasure to read and I wish all of you the best of luck, if you have any ideas or such, please write them in a comment or send a private message at irc.

The information on the page right now is just a piece of a cake, there's more pieces to come, I will add more and more stuff as time goes by.

Hope you have fun reading!

gj & hf!

08/06/2008 18:35:00

Really nice, Moxx. Maybe you can include some information from Pulsar!'s thread (KZ History was it's name)?

08/06/2008 18:41:00

Yea, gonna look into that and see what's interesting

08/06/2008 18:45:00

I think you should rename the news in Kz map history. Like eusunt says, you should add information from jumpers to (FikoN, kimo, a0ke, t3d, alts!ch, target, ev0.... etc...). imo

08/06/2008 18:57:00

Nice work moxxarN arN.

08/06/2008 19:12:00

Who wrote this? I figure Moxx, since he's mentioned in like every sentence, lol. :E

08/06/2008 19:18:00

agree puppetz :D make a top5 who made most maps in the kz-History

08/06/2008 19:26:00

Gj. =)

08/06/2008 20:17:00

cool

08/06/2008 20:28:00

I dont know why m@n clan wasnt mentioned at all. Kreedz was making phat bank from them for a long time. m@n clan paid for his website and hundreds of dollars for all kz_m@n maps. If there wasnt a m@n clan I dont think we would have near as many maps as we do today from kreedz. Also early mappers and friends of kreedz such as Pix could use a mention.

08/06/2008 20:46:00

More info about the legendary jumpers and their rise and fall, that would make this a really nice article.

08/06/2008 20:51:00

Finally! This is definitely a good start. There are many mistakes with grammar and stuff, but for now just keep adding more info, like the others suggested.

08/06/2008 21:05:00

this is the best thing ever made in xj for a long time. very interresting. keep on the good work moxx. look forward to check the new stuff (:

08/06/2008 21:06:00

Good Idea Will it extend Moxx?

08/06/2008 21:07:00

hmm history mmm so tasty

08/06/2008 21:20:00

cool :P

08/06/2008 21:26:00

Great job Moxx :) this is very interesting

08/06/2008 21:34:00

Very nice :-)

08/06/2008 21:44:00

ye, finally.. but I really think u should try to get to talk with some of the oldschoolpros, even tho it will surely be hard.. but someones gotta have their msn/icq or anything.. its just that u kinda only tell the story from your point of view.. else its good :)

08/06/2008 21:49:00

Very good idea! It's interesting to see how it all originated and now this information won't get lost. You should create subsection though. :)

08/06/2008 22:18:00

i agree.. with some1 ( omilo ) . :)

08/06/2008 22:58:00

there wont be a test on this later, right?

08/06/2008 23:06:00

1. The first cheater :P 2. The first 240 250 260 and such these. 3. The first map 4. The first cup winner

08/06/2008 23:15:00

Agree PuppetZ^. With due respect this shouldnt be for hyping some persons. Please tell us some facts and do it objective.

08/06/2008 23:42:00

n1 work guys :D

08/06/2008 23:59:00

Good idea! And I agree with Puppetz and Chrizzo ;) just my thoughts when reading the history. Sounds really like the history about moxx etc.

09/06/2008 08:31:00

Well moxx has been involved in a lot of things, so I suppose its hard not to mention him. But I agree with everyone else some info should be added about all the oldskool jumpers. GJ so far!

09/06/2008 08:47:00

IF Moxx post the big history of kz we have to reaaad 10 years :D

09/06/2008 10:58:00

The History of Moxx in KZ

09/06/2008 12:50:00

This needs some fixes for sure, esp. the parts about XJ as "third party site" are not quite correct ^^ OddYsseus and me are going to write some stuff, too, I guess, esp. about the role of XJ in the past ^^

09/06/2008 12:54:00

really interesting, i was like in my elemt reading this gj :)

09/06/2008 12:59:00

sorry, but this is poorly written. sounds like kz history was only lead by kreedz and moxx. You should have talked to faker/oddysseus before making this crappy text public.

09/06/2008 13:22:00

Nice job !

09/06/2008 14:13:00

I agree that it's far from complete and somewhat a biased account, but I sure got enlighted on alot of things. I'm looking forward to read when faker and OddYsseus has written their version of the history :) Props to Moxx for getting this started and writing the first "version", enjoyed reading most of it :)

09/06/2008 14:52:00

nice job :)

09/06/2008 15:18:00

it would be nice to know when cj got invented, and some information about Count, or maybe an interview .. :D

Here are some fixtures/addtions/facts: - When kzmaps hosted the records they had pretty strange rules about shortcuts and the average fps rate. eDark recorded a demo with 30 fps to show that it is a strong advantage and that the rules should be changed. That was the way he introduced himself to the kz-scene and kzmaps. After that he started to develop a tool to check the demos for the fps rate. In addition he tryed to add bhop script detections and other valuable stuff, too. That was the birth of the famous tool fps-death - Xtreme-Jumps was NOT a clone of kzmaps. It started off as a german community, hosting jump movies (famous movies like Xtreme-Jumps #1 or Xtreme-Jumps #2), a lot of tutorials and a kz server as well. Xtreme-Jumps was found by ev0 and the leaders were asix and OddYsseus. After a while ev0 left and asix and OddYsseus got owners of the community. Some time later ernstaugut and FikoN got headadmins and were responsible for a big change: Xtreme-Jumps changed and started to become international to allow the community to grow and let people from different places all over the world be a part of it. From the beginning of that, there has been pretty strong competition between kzmaps and Xtreme-Jumps. After the record demos were down on kzmaps for quite a while (several months) XJ decided to host world record demos as well to keep up the competition. XJ had different rules, though, to allow all the shortcuts and give the jumpers all the freedom they wanted to perform the best time possible on the maps. Soon the records section on XJ got pretty popular and the community was growing pretty fast. In the meantime I became admin at XJ and were pretty busy, trying to improve XJ. At that time I spent a lot of time for XJ and fortunately promoted me to the 2nd Headadmin/Leader of XJ, after FikoN and ernstaugut got kinda inactive or left. After a while, and some inactivity at kzmaps (all the other admins didnt help Moxx at all), there was a big deal and we (Moxx, OddYsseus and me) decided to merge kzmaps and XJ and let the community happen at one place so everybody would benefit. At this time the mapteam was founded and started to check maps as well, to get more opinions on the map and get fair decisions. Ever since all the mapreleases used to happen at XJ. This is it for now... Part I Going to write Part II ("the drama" about splitting up, and merging again) when I'm back. P.S: Moxx u know I <3 u, but maybe you should take the feedback everyone is giving and consider to use a more neutral type of writing ^^ Adding the (true) information of my text and adding the KZ History Forum thread informations would be a step in the right direction for sure.

nice :D!!

I was introduced to kz_maps in early 2004 by a friend who used to play on 4Players' kz server. arF` was helping out a lot of noobies like myself on this server. He was the one who taught me strafing. At that time kzmaps was hosting the world record demos which have been checked regularly by their demo admin kz`killor aka kz`rollik (a friend of Helferlein). Goateh was pretty big at that time he was holding almost every record. Some day all of this demos disappeared due to his request. If I remember correctly he was tired of getting spammed on irc by beginners asking for help. After Goateh was gone SuPa, Helferlein and others took over. After some months of increasing my skill I was ready for #Xtreme-Jumps irc cups. This must have been around June 2004. At that time ev0` and maLi were doing all the business for XJ. ev0` scripted Xtreme-Jumps' first cup bot. maLi was responsible for 4Players kz server. I think #jump-cup was already around at that time but I dunno when this channel was started. I remember FikoN and t0ffo being cup admins in #jump-cup. More later... I think everybody of us old schoolers should write down what he remembers. Of course we can only tell from our point of view. Everybody remembers things differently or was active at another "place" of the scene. So don't blame Moxx. I'm sure he wrote down exactly how he remembers and how he experienced things in the past.

10/06/2008 04:24:00

Very nice additions faker and Oddysseus. Written very well and really interesting. Keep it up.

10/06/2008 23:00:00

Nice additions faker and OddYsseus. And cool idea moxx. If some oldschoolers wanna write about the pro's, I would be willing to share my knowledge and make a good work. Faker maybe?
