Rules update

By faker mapper·
Hey guys,

the circumstances made it necessary to update some of the rules:

The subsection forum rules got added to the rules, summing up some pretty obvious forum rules. We hope it is going to help reducing further spam or pointless threads.

There are some changes in the rules for submitting maps, too:

  • For kz maps, it is required to have a .res file as well as 32 spawn points. If you have problems with the .res file, feel free to ask for help.

  • If you are submitting your map again (because it was rejected or bugged the first time), you have to inlcude a changelog documenting the changes made to your map.

  • P.S: There is a new poll you might want to take part in.

    Take care :)

    07/10/2008 17:46:00

It tells your CS which files to download, I don't know why it's needed :E

I think there's too much pressure on new mappers. If they get their map discarded the first time, I think a lot of them will just give up the project... But usually faker knows what he is doing, and I don't have enough mapping insider intel to know wether I'm right or wrong.

The map submission rules are "made" by the mapcheck team, and we know what we do. Also 32 spawn points and a .res file isn't that hard to make and include.

adding a res file is nice! kraxxxel allways flamed about it... nice decision.

    07/10/2008 23:27:00

For me step forward. Nice job.

    08/10/2008 01:09:00

    08/10/2008 01:20:00

    finnaly, nice...

    08/10/2008 01:57:00

what's the point of requiring res files?

    08/10/2008 13:19:00

.res files is like a list of custom files that the map uses. It helps the server to send the necessary files needed to play the map to the client that connects. I.e. A client won't get the custom sound if the server doesn't have a .res file for that map, might still be able to join and play the map but won't hear the sound. If the server has a .res file for that map it will tell the client to download the custom sound of the server before playing the map. Just used sound as example, ofc all other custom files are included in the .res files too :) * correct me if I'm wrong *

    09/10/2008 00:48:00

yeah.. i know they do that.. but that still doesn't explain why they're now required..

    10/10/2008 15:32:00

    Niccee ;D

    11/10/2008 13:23:00
