really great article chrizZo! i`d have to say that every player has to play alot to be able to beat a world record. you need to know a map in such a way, that it is not needed for you to think were you need to go,make a sc,bhop,etc... you feel it! its just like knowing how to eat lol... you do it so often, that after a lot of eating, you just do it naturally (hope you understand my association with food lol xD). i do miss the times when these noobs were really active :D t3d, z0ck3r, tarGoat, a0ke, zhady, sbzvln, soul ftw, even the allmighty flaming bibo, etc etc... the list could go on forever :P great article once again! loved reading it!

Such a great article, chrizZo! My answer would be: skill comes after alot of playing time; there are some people that do not need such a large amount of time to beat a wr(few of the current record holders). The main reason why a player do a wr is to proove that he is the best. Some of them plays for fun (but i doubt that), others for E-fame, others are simple geeks. In the end all will resume to geeking because a wr is harder and harder to obtain.

This is very, very well written, you definitely improve your ability the more you write, but is this due to skill or time..? Large parts of this are perfectly written and could not be distinguished from someone writing in their native language, the majority of your mistakes are ones you will make less of once you get better at reading the English back to yourself, especially things like commas which are very powerful in making things clearer. Again with time you notice that things just don't sound right some times, I've tried to explain some of these to you but it's really down to experience more than anything. Your vocabulary is pretty strong you've used words talking to me that I've had to google so good job with that. I've gone on to list the things that can be improved so you can see examples of where your mistakes are. Being as brutal as possible: [list]You should capitalize the title (Slash Uptime) *Release after release, for doesn't make sense *I think world record holders sounds much better than recorders *That is the difference to a normal player - this is messy you should change it to 'That is the difference between a normal player and a world record holder', or something. It's 'difference to' that doesn't make sense *Unnecessary comma after decides *I'm not sure walk-through sounds right, climb would be better, also top spot is better than top one. *difficulty to determine, you should use 'difficulty in determining', difficulty to isn't right *I don't believe illustrates is the best word here, it's more of an explanation, replacing illustrates with 'uses' would make sense *It seems like, at least for zhady, it is - If you read it aloud with the pauses you can see it's clearer like that *In addition to that, he *I think resulting skill is better than received skill, he played a lot which resulted in him improving which makes more sense than him receiving the skill, it sounds like someone gave him his skill *Moreover, zhady *Opinion on is better than opinion about, you wouldn't say you had an opinion about something *legend, t3d, was *as t3d, the other German star, Z0ck3r, had - I think this whole sentence could be written better though *Furthermore, he *To make a perfect demo sounds better *Sometimes he was playing hours without any success at all *I think you mean Bibo -admitted- to playing more CS than he let on? *You already used moreover recently, simply 'Then there is mjuuh' is fine *You will -see- an usual picture, or, You will notice something unusual *After -just- minutes, don't use some like this *Again 'after some tries', it's not clear what you are trying to say, after only a few tries? *Finnish player -who- did *lose, not loose *records? sweet atricle, rly interesting for me i think the time people need to record their demos is rly up to the typ of concentration they have. some people may loose it after 15min of recording or a rly good run where they got all excited - other people may need time to get into the game and gain their full concentration after ~30min. although my skill level is not comparable to world record holders i experienced my first 3-5 runs are the best ones when i start recording.

Actually (at least on my old crap pc) the logout button kinda starts blending in. I suggest change the colors a bit. Oh and that bold text [b]New option[/b] should have been clickable with anchor to that new option because the first time I saw it, I tried to click it. And after I figured out that it's on settings page, I couldn't find it at first... xD Also, maybe XJ should consider new colour theme... This one is getting old :P <3
