Because his last strafe has big loss = he crashed into the block = stats get bugged. I can just guess,ofcourse it can be 257 aswell but in 99% of the cases (I just take that number) it's lower stats than being shown,a lot lower.
if stats it showed the loss doesen't matter at all.. did 254-256 with loss on last strafe more times and distance was corect -/+ few units. cuz i did it on big blocks 254/255 , think a little if u make 255 stats with 8 strafes for exmple and las strafe has 0000 why loss speed matter? cuz u did corect 7 strafes and not the last 1 , and i dont think last strafe affect the jump. ( my opinion)
Just if one of the last 2 strafes has more than,I dont know,50 loss it's not real. Basically because you strafe when you already touched the block,makes the stats think of having loss at the strafe even though you just lose all the speed because crashing a block.
