Emo And Goth To Be Made Illegal In Russia?

According to The Moscow Times, the Russian government is in the process of drafting a law to make emo and goth music illegal.

Last month a parliamentary committee was convened to discuss a draft proposal of the Russian government's "Government Strategy In The Sphere Of Spiritual And Ethical Education" bill, the details of which were leaked to The Moscow Times. Among other measures, the proposed legislation calls for heavy regulation of emo web sites and for banning young people dressed like emos from entering schools and government buildings.

The bill also outlines what it calls a "spiritual and ethical crisis" facing Russian youth, including the high rate of alcohol abuse, teen abortions and "negative youth movements."

Emo ideology encourages and justifies drug use and sexual relations among minors, according to the bill, which also lumps emos and goths together with skinheads.

"The point of the bill is so that by 2020, Moscow will have someone to rule its government," said Alexander Grishunin, an adviser to Public Chamber member Yevgeny Yuryev, one of the bill's three coordinators. "This is the first step in the public discourse."

The bill's sponsors hope that it will be passed into law by the end of the year.

I'll emigrate to Russia if that's true. I'm tired of this ppl. It's not because of the emos and goths, nooo it's because lots of people I know for years that have absolutely nothing to do with the "emo-definition" dress up like emos and when I ask them why the usual answer is either "Cuz emos are popular man it's cool. It's just a trend but it's cool believe me." (ye I believe that) or "I'm tired of this fucking world." And when I ask them why: "Dunno" (what an explanation meh I'm gonna :emo:CRY:emo:). You know what I mean? People from BG know for sure >_>

people mistake scene for emo so much. scene = look/dress like you're emo, but you're just a normal person. there are actually few emos left in the world :(

The fact that some people take the EMO style too serious makes you think theyre completely brainwashed and its true... To be sad all the time and not to "fight" the problems that this world gives you is very cowardly... Hide behind black clothes and now when EMO is so popular you cant even wear black clothes and have long hair .. because everyone will be like YOU EMO... Stupid kids dont even know why they are EMO's... ITS A STYLE but its bad atleast in my opinion... It just needs to stop... Good job russian goverment and I hope every country will do the same... It mainly started with the music so... I bet when they stop that it will wipe out a lot of those "pretend to be in SO MUCH PAIN and very unhappy bands" will disappear... The only singer I know that never ever faked his pain was Kurt Cobain ... god bless his soul...
