Born, live, die. That's what I believe. Atheist ftw.

Another thing with religion is all the school-related stuff.

I don't remember exactly what it was, but a couple of days
of the week, we were all supposed to goto church and listen to some "act" about a part of christianity. I didn't want to be there cause i hate religion, i told my mom and my teacher that i really didn't want to be there. But nooo, the teachers said it was important to "know these things when you grow up". Meanwhile, the Jehovas Witness's and muslims had those days off and didn't even have to go :/ Bullshit.

that's the second reason, after the innocent kills etc., that i don't like religion. religion is something i believe should be performed in ur spare time, and not force into people in school. if u choose 2 be religious, fine, but don't force it into every1 that's non-religious, then it's just a big waste of time. it's really bugging me how it still is part of the mandatory education in sweden :/ i wanted a F in that course, and got it, but then my dad forced med 2 redo it and i got a C, suxx:D

Totaly disagree with you there knifear, everyone needs to know the basics imo. etc. if you travel to a foreign country, it could be needed and useful.

Even if your an atheist you should learn about the diffrent religions.

KNiFEAR28/10/2008 11:58

I knew some1 would write that, and I agree to a certain extent. but really, even if adapting to other people, i think adapting cause of a religious reason is lame. like i don't want to feel i couldn't draw and publish a picture of Mohammed (random imaginary god) without getting my house filled with suicide bombers from allah-land.

it's common courtesy to respect and adapt to different environments, but religion is just so "undefined", so that's where i draw the line. imo it should rather be the religious people adapting to the, what i think is, normal people (though religious people certainly think the opposite:D).

but ye i agree it could be needed and useful if u don't want crazy religious ppl jumping ur back:D na jk hah

I'm not religious

To know customs when you travel abroad is totally normal.

To "learn" the religion basis (the things you musn't do etc) when you travel in a religious country is of course normal, BUT:

learning those basis like a culture : OK.
Learning those basis like a religion (at school for example etc) : not OK.

Do you know what is teaching religion at school?
It's called propaganda, all simply.
You must have the right to choose, and this way, it's forced by school, and it's not secular at all.

Plus, to come back on somebody else's words,
what's the point of knowing where you're going?
That's something I can't understand, what are you afraid of?
You born, you live, you die, and that's it.
The only important thing is your life, what you are doing with it, just profit from it!
I mean having fun when you're still young/teenager, pass all the diploms you want, find a girl you love, marry her, build a family, buy a house, travel, keep hanging out with your friends, get a good job to be able to fulfil your "dreams".

Don't mind-torture yourself with what's going to happen when you'll be dead.

KNiFEAR28/10/2008 13:34

yea exactly, propaganda. you should have the right to choose yourself. a short introduction to what religions is in school maybe should be ok, but spending years of studying it against ur own will is bs.:D

leggie28/10/2008 14:47

yeah, i never went to RE, they dropped me from it purely because i hated it, all you have to do is sit there and say you hate religion and they cant make you do shit........

Propaganda? At least in Finnish school system only history of religion with its effects and stuff is taught, a teacher has NEVER said me that god exists.

In my opinion, the basic idea of religion is pretty unfair. Believe or burn in hell?

Well, I'm a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland (Christian...), but I'm skeptical of God.

totally agree!

imho religions are just for those ppl who really need an answer for questions like "where am i going". they basicly need some person who is the reason for all those question nobody will ever be able to answer. there are some facts like the one that certain people/prophets really lived but i think most things are very wrong or a t least far away from truth.

i for myself dont beleive in god cuz i think as ndr said... i live now + i have better things to think about :)
but this does not mean i think bad about religious people

itachi^31/10/2008 22:36

about god theres only one question..
fact or fiction?

Kraeft31/10/2008 22:46

ndR, as Flibo says. Something that in fact are very propagandistic are all the nature science related subjects.

cncool01/11/2008 12:04

I m a Muslim and believe in God (Allah)

Actually it isn't, you just believe that there isn't a god, you don't know that.

I don't give a damn about religion, and I hate learning about it in school. Happy that I don't have it anymore.

Some of you guys might've missed some classes in school or never opened a history book imo... And it's not only history that may give you some knowledge on the subject: try with biology, physics etc. (all the natural sciences mainly). Back in the days when people didn't know how to explain all the stuff happening around them that looked strange or unknown to them they had to believe in something, to give a reasonable explanation to send away their fears (most of the time we fear the unknown...). And of course there were people who used that to control the rest. The positive side of this was that some behaviour models were settled and therefore this brought up much more organization among the societies. Anyways there's always a bad side and I guess you know most of it: religious wars etc. stuff. But religious wars always served a cause which when we're talking about wars is most likely money/power/land related. So someone or a whole group of people had/have interests in spreading their religion as a way of informal control. That's what I hate most about religion. Modern science have already answered to nearly all of the questions that religions tried to explain in the past. But instead of the good old "you gotta believe" they give us _FACTS_. However lot's of stuff gotta be examined from now on since there is still much unknown. The start of everything (big bang theory) is what scientists are most interested in. That terra incognita is going to be seriously investigated when the Hadron Collider gets fixed >_>. CERN specialists believe that there's a big chance to find the "God Particle" AND i really doubt it's going to be a bearded guy or whatever other forms religions give it... My parents believe in god and I respect their beliefs but I myself never will.
P.S. Dunno why I even wrote all this shit. : x
P.S.1 THANK __GOD___ POLITICIANS IN MY COUNTRY REJECTED RELIGIOUS STUDIES/CLASSES WHEN I WAS IN A LOWER GRADE!!!

The Higgs particle is basically a micro replica of Universe, revealing it and letting it interact with "our" Universe will cause a rapid interference of the time and space dimensions, resulting in an infinite implosion that includes everything.

I think I've found the particle: http://xtreme-jumps.eu/user.php?id.320

eDark02/11/2008 01:18(edited 02/11/2008 01:34)

kreaft that s bullshit ...
the higgs particle is a particle that gives carrier particles that are responsible for the fundamental interaction(gauge-bosons) a mass with a low level anti-symmetric higgs field because they don t have mass themself.
this is a really complicated mechanism that involves theoretical quantum mechanics ...
or in other words don t talk about things you don t understand :P

eDark delivers! ;D
