whats the difference between high jump and lo
i know the blocks are higher i know , but does this make the jump harder?
i mean its the same length like in longjumping, but why is high jump harder?
thank you
It is cuz if you jump from the edge (like longjump) you loose prestrafe speed (to about 208). So if you don't wanna loose it - you have to jump 10-20 units before the edge (so it mase jump 10-20 units longer).
lol NumB. From a guy like you, I would have expected a more reasonable explantion. :/
On highjumps there is some sort of edgefriction, on the side(s) of the block, that's raised 70 units or higher above the ground, of some reason. You can feel it, if you try and crouch-walk around the edge of the block.
Try this on a highjump block, and a normal block. You will feel the difference.
Well, besides that, NumB is right, you have to jump BEFORE the edge, so that you won't get affected by the edgefriction.
Exactly how much, depends on the jump, if you ask me. But on a normal highjump block, with maximum prestrafe possibilities, I'd say around 8-10 units. Although, it's hard to know how many units you're actually jumping before the edge.
Practice a lot on the highjumps and you will learn how to deal with them. :)
aa thank you
i just know this edgefriction, if i duck and walk to the edge, i get slower
aa thank you
http://img222.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hjtechniquequ7.jpg maybe this will help u (don't look the technique, just try to avoid EF by jumping 12 units before the edge of the block) and u can avoid edgefriction. By doing "airstrafe" type of prestrafing like CJ/BHOP u skip EF (so u don't have to jump 12 units before the edge of the block) so edgefriction has effect only on LJ technique.
