I was asking that same question too but I think it happens when you try to make a huge room from solid material(not null and sky ,etc)like wall,rock or something without putting an opening to the outer in-map world(done even think abbout making a LEAK :) )
as far as I know the biggest place in the map is the final cave in the mountain.if you are asking how kreedz did it he made several such holes,one to the level before the mountain and another at the top next to the stopcounter.Thats just my theory though.
Or maybe there is a limit of space for a room and its so big that he didnt exceed it.

he compiled his maps with batch compiler. If you want to create huge maps like kreedz did, use batch compiler
some other tips:
→ don't use too much textures / wad files
→ scale them higher
→ try to make the skybox as small as possible

mhh which compiling tools do you use?
i heard kreedz used some old compiling tools and they are even self-modified too
yeah he used another tool but i dont remember what it was called...
Nah but batch compiler is t3h best :)
i know many programs. but with the new zoner and some compiling settings you can fix it ^^
