My suggestion is that we should change the name of it to something ELSE.
Before it gets TOO popular. I mean what is so weird about it? you just drop from a height and then do a longjump? Shouldnt we call it a DropJump?
AKA DJ? oh and no confusion with DCJ - Double CountJump

If you have any other name suggestions tell me about it.

it is already TOO popular imo.

it's a stupid name yes, because its just drop bhop theoretically, but the name got already too popular long ago. therefore, changing it would be weird too.
and since it's not an "official contest discipline" it don't matter that much how it's called.

u can say to someone drop bhop, u can say drop lj, u can say weird jump. nearly everyone understand what u mean :)

Is it really that popular? I mean there are only like 200 posts in the wj thread and they released 1 plugin which is still not the full version.
And i only know about 3-7 servers that have that plugin ATM.
Thats why i was saying that we should change it now and not later just a suggestion.

WJ now known for over 1year it wouldn't make sense to change it. Also you can't really force the community to call it dropjump.

If you think it should called dropjump, then write it in your posts instead of weirdjump.

i will bet that none will understand then what you are trying to tell with dropjump.

imo it's like dEMolite already said. wj is known since over a year.

Nearly every jumper which reads often the xj forum and was registered since > 1 year will probably know about weird longjumps.
In first weeks after heiss' post "weird longjump" it wasn't that known. if you said weird longjump to someone (also jumpers which are active in the forum) they asked "what is that", but after some month rly all of them knew it. since long time, if you talk for example in #xtreme-jumps channel about weird longjump, nearly everyone know what it is.
So i think it's rly popular. when heiss xreated the thread he named it "weird longjumps" with ", because he didn't know how he should call thread title. he never said "this jump is called weird longjump" it was more only thread title and mapname. no one knew if this jump once get that popular, and since it got that popular trough heiss' thread (imo), it's known by it's thread title's name weird longjump.

Sure, with ljstats a "techniqes name" get much more popular then only on forums, cause there are many ppl not watching xj forum but playing on kz servers. For all this person, also weird lj in the plugin is some new name. But for most of the xjtreme-jumps.eu members weird longjump is a known name i think.


and ye, u could say ernstaugust jump to it too like wrath said. the technique ernstaugust used on his "ernstaugust jump" on de_inferno is same technique as weird jump and done long before the post of weird_jump exists.


i think at end it don't matter how a jump is called, it matters that others know about what jump u are talking about. and weird longjump got to a known name so much ppl know about what u are talking when u say weird longjump. don't matter if "weird longjump" is a "weird" name. isn't countjump for example a weird name too? (nothing against Count). i mean, from technical spot it would be something like "duck-in-prestrafe-bhop-longjump" xD. "count" in the name countjump has also nothing to do with the technical aspect, it just got name countjump cause Count (the user) invented this technique on xtreme-jumps. But this also don't matter because what matters is, Countjump got popular. ppl know about what we ware talking when we say countjump :)

All i wanna say that naming this jump type as "wj" is not so bad, as it sounds pretty good.
Also, calling it drop lj or sth like this would be understood by others, so i think you could feel free to say so.
Although, I think this name is already too popular to change it to another 'official'.
