Eem, i have a question about demo rules. I still don't understand why your average fps has to be 85, when it's lower than it, then are you better or, does it changes smth?

lags while watching demo?
wanna know too

NiconeN25/12/2008 15:43

no. its that when you jump from block to another with 100fps and u land, u feel a bit "slow" for a short time (hope you know what i mean) but with like 30 fps u wont get this "slow" thing and you can just 'run' without losing speed after landing. a bit bad explanation i hope you understood what i mean :)

spr1n mapper25/12/2008 15:51

evry frame u get effected by engine with (some) events etc. if u have low fps - u get effected less (as far as i know). NiconeN made a good example of that - with low fps you just dont get enough of that slowdown effect.

SchlumPF25/12/2008 15:58

while in cs 1.5 bunnyjumping was able to be done without any mod the developers decided to disallow it by some slowdown eddect on landing a jump. this slowdown effect becomes less the lower the players fps are. this is possibly the main reason. another reason is that you move slightly faster with low fps and edgebugs become a lot easier.

Lower your fps, the easier it is to make a EB. I'm not sure why, but I'm pretty sure thats a fact.

Ye it's easier. I think it was explained somewhere before in the forum or in a newspost but I don't really remember.

OT:
I'm pretty sure it's because of the reason NiconeN already mentioned. There was this guy "special" in bkZ who used to beat Bulgarian records this way. He had almost no slow down after landing with average fps of about 25

Do you really move faster? I've tried it with /speed plugin and fps doesn't matter at all.

akkord mapper25/12/2008 22:37

for example I do a lot of tricks with my friend, 2man stuff mostly and now if Im running down with 99fps and my mate is up with 60fps, he will fall off from my head because he is slower then me. so we always make the exact same fps to have no difference

PepoMerca26/12/2008 02:59

average fps should be 75..

SchlumPF26/12/2008 04:11

flibo you cannot prove that low fps make you faster by a plugin bzt as akkord mentioned you can proof it by that way. i personally found this out when i came to the idea to test it ^^ using dev1 + highfps makes you move slower so why should low fps not make you move faster :P
i think all these things are caused because the enginge is fps based but i cannot tell you why cuz im not that familiar with the engine.

1. strafes are easier to handle because you have "more time" wo switch keys when you have lower fps
2. you somehow jump further and have less slowdown with lowfps
3. jb/eb are easier with less fps because you don't have to be that accurate
4. that's the reason why FPS Death is being used.
At first fps death had the task to make sure players have enough fps when playing to make it fair. eDark told me he once made a wr with lowfps just to show the admins how easy it was (he still had to geek some map for a longer time :D). He came up with that demo and then presented fps-death as a solution for the problem. That's the history beyond fps-death :) all the hack/script/plugin detection came later.

Yeah right. I want to see 240 made with 20 fps :I

EDIT: Just tested the speed thingy. 20fps and 100fps are at least 99% the same. I got 00:37 in go_fastrun with both running straight. BUT, with 500fps, I got 00:45. That means that fps over 100 = slower. I also tried 100fps with developer 0/1, both were the same.

Flibo im not sure of this but try making like 10 jumps for ex. in the same places of the map with 100 and 20, maybe you will see different result then, cause i think it takes away the landingslowdown with lower fps. Running just forward i think should be the same.

SchlumPF28/12/2008 02:08

"you somehow jump further"
thats not true. cs has a fps-based enginge and the airstrafe effect will just be added at the end of each frame. this mean if you have lower fps you will gain less speed which means you wont jump as far as with 100fps.
