because in some movies is saw long distances jumpen with bhop on a lj block

is it easier to jump longer there?

Gnomas24/01/2009 19:32

no it's just because many players like to make bj on lj blocks, if u have in mind normal lj map

Nekso24/01/2009 19:58(edited 25/01/2009 02:22)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but yes, I think it is easier indeed
due to the fact that the bhop block goes down a fraction of a unit before you are able to jump from it, so you start the bhop-jump some distance below the normal height, thus increasing the difficulty.

Although, jumping on a lj block you don't have this problem because they don't move, so you'll always start the bhop-jump at the same height as the landing spot.

I could be wrong though ;P
cheers.

Yes Nekso ur right it's easier to bhop at highjump/longjump blocks cuz the bhop goes 1unit down before jumping.

Om125/01/2009 00:43

kidding me? cuz u jump the moment u toych the block and the block doesnt move until it's touched...

Nekso25/01/2009 02:21(edited 25/01/2009 02:41)

I'm pretty sure its not a hole 1 unit;
but it does go down at least a fraction of a unit.

Om1, the block start to move down when its touched, but the player stays in contact with it for some time (even if it is just one frame, the block already went down) The landing and jump off is not perfectly immediate.

(I'm not sure, but I'd say the amount of distance the block moves down depends on the amount of frames the player stays in contact with the bhop-block and the movement speed it is given at Valve Hammer Editor)

I heard something about 1 unit :D! Goes down 1 unit but that its not a big difference. Its a bit harder thats all!

ya schlumpf said that in another thread and since hes the scripter of the year we gotta believe that!

gen4y25/01/2009 12:03

shNz jumped 245 block with 245.225 stats

Watch this demo...Your suppositions are bullshits..
Anyway if the blocks fall 1 unit down or around it will does not show the stats for sure..!

Grrr25/01/2009 12:11(edited 25/01/2009 12:11)

If u wait a little I could tell u the answer when I test with a same bhop lj script his max distance on bhop block and his max distance on LJ/HJ block

I didnt said that you must jump 1 unit more. If the block goes down 1 unit u should jump 0,... more. Because u cant add the hight to the lenght. Its like when ur jumping a 158 units lenght and 53 units hight jump and ur saying that this is 158+53 and its not i belive.

gen4y25/01/2009 13:26(edited 25/01/2009 13:27)

for sure there is no difference without ljblocks and bhopblocks its the same but i think maybe its easier to do prestrafe on ljblocks.. :) thats all

uffo.25/01/2009 15:09

ichwill how much we have to wait ? -.-

Grrr25/01/2009 15:45

okay.. I tested it.. there is a difference about ~1 unit between jumping on normal blocks and bhop blocks (did 237 bhop block with 237.5 stats and also did with the same script 238 lj block with 238.6 stats)

gen4y how old are u ? pls stop posting til u get a brain / or learn proper english
with sclumpf ljstats you can see that height diff between the moving block and the landing block is 0.9 units , even tho if u calculate the blocks without touching them (with measure plugin for ex ..) the height diff is 0 .

gen4y25/01/2009 18:33

O_ova I'm 19.And don't tell me what to do because i think I'm definitely smarter than u.Stop arguing me!

I didn't knew that that height diff is correct.. and I did the tests with script to prove that its not the same :D

Ichwill, you wrong because O_ova say it, that's all.

bhopljing on bhoplongjump blocks which are usually func_doors which move down on touch is harder than bhopling on a ground which doesnt move down, because you jump of the bhopblock when it has already moved about 1 units down. in fact, accoding to raver, the heightdifference depends on the speed set to func_doors.

i hope i answered this question the last time.... if you want to know why i know this: i had to test around while creating kz_stats and this was one of my results.

kkthxbye

raver mapper25/01/2009 23:22

The speed of the func_doors is also a value you dont need to forget. When its higher then a certain value, the player will get dragged down.
