[TECHNIQUE] Duck-Bug (db)
Intro:
This is no damage fall technique. We all know what Edge-Bug and Jump-Bug are. This is a combination of thise two techniques what is two times easier than Jump-Bug, but can be preformed only on plane ground (and doesn't really need an edge nearby). While Jump-Buging we loose horizontal speed, in it this one we don't (however this technique has nothing to do with jump key so doesn't force you to go higher).
Prove:
Here you go a DEMO example of it.
Explanation how to do:
First take a look on the IMAGE.
Black - ground; green - frame in air; red - frame when we preforme the bug.
Now what is what and why... Anyway, now we found a place somewhere up high and we jump down where is a plane ground. When jumped we have to get high horizontal speed. How high speed should be... Hard to explain but I'll try. Imagine that you are runing down. You are always on the ground. That speed is too low. But if you'll run down it and time to time will get in air - this is the speed what we need (sure speed can be even higher). So anyway, now we are in air, our speed is high enough. Now here comes an image what I showed higher. We are ducked [green]. And by principle of Jump-Bug we unduck being close to ground, so we will get teleported on it (engine doesn't detect that teleport) [red]. Now cuz of too high speed you'r next frame will be in air again, so engine dosn't think that you touched the ground at all (but your vertical speed is reseted just like in Edge-Bug).
Use:
Sc example on kz_man_redrock. Demo. Image.
Asking eDark:
[blockquote]
Numb: so
Numb: last frame in air
Numb: I was ducked
Numb: then I unduck and got on the ground (but engine doesn't detect it - like jb)
Numb: then run forward and cuz of high speed i'm not on ground anymore
Numb: so all 3 frames for engine i'm not on ground, but really in second frame i'm on ground
Numb: right?
eDark: yep
eDark: you never touch the ground for engine
[/blockquote]
Read before posting:
If this is old for you or you think that someone somewhere done it some time ago - don't write it in this thread, cuz purpose of my post is to get this technique in official xj technique list what means that is it new or old for you doesn't really mater's and we don't really need this offtopic discussion here.
This is the famous strange "jumpbug" what all jumper has already made on the end of bkz_wallblock.
But thanks for explanation :)
Dont say its new man. It was already a topic opened with this technique. Ppl were doing this on wallblock but like ryderc said 10x for the explanation.
If this is what I think it is, it is not a new technique. You didn't seem to take credit for it and call it yours though. I know that this can be used for an obvious shortcut on the last part of kz_azclimb. Just ask s1gh, I've made it with this "technique".

This has nothing to do with jump key, so I'm guessing that you'r wrong. Also don't think that "all" jumpers have already made it. Btw, before trying it just now on wallblock I was making edgebugs from the red carpet to the ground and thought that it is weird when it really was simple edgebus...
But really good place to train plain-bug (made 3 of 9 with 2 in a row).

This works on jb principle and is two times ezer than jb. So you are saying that much people were doing 5jbs in a row not saying that it's already average enough to get high horizontal speed for it? :lol:

I'm and not taking credits for it - just posting it publicly. But I don't think that it's old (specially that I never seen/heard/read that it was already prefermed by somebody). =)
// edit:
Btw, I find it strange that every technique I post I havent saw before preformed by some1. Never saw it's discussed on xj or anywhere else. Never saw it any demo. But it's old... Hmm... Interesting...
// edit2:
I'm even more interested that if it would be old, eDark would and should know it, but...
[blockquote]
eDark: it s an edgebug
Numb: but how it's possible that it's done w/o an edge?
eDark: mhm
eDark: maybe cs sees it as an edge
eDark: but it looks exatly like an edgebug
Numb: it has some thing to do with doubleduck what I was doing ?
eDark: yea or it would do that everytime
eDark: but i don t know what
[/blockquote]
This chat was before I said my theory what I also posted higher.
// edit3:
What I'm trying to say: before saying old - make sure it was already posted publicly, cuz I'm sure that for most of the people it is new.
NumB, please notice that I said you did NOT take credits for it, and therefore I don't have any problem with this thread.
About the technique/bug being old ... There's many bugs and techniques which are commonly known by many people, but not many seem to care to give it a name, or study the theory behind it. And for those who do, it's not always that they want to share it with everybody, probably cause either;
1. They think that everybody knows about it anyway.
2. They want to keep it for themselves, and have a good feeling about knowing something others don't (actually they can not even be sure about that, but it's good for their ego I guess).

"10x" means "thanks"
Well, anyway, this technique isn't in official kz technique list so I'm willing to put it there and mby even xj weekly will be interested in posting this in news. =P
P.S. Sry if my last post could sound a bit insulting - just trying to make it go publicly.

I agree with that, but I don't think that more than 1% of all jumpers know about it. Also I have no need to keep it in secret, so am posting it here for ability that some wr's can be beated with it due to some new sc's what are availueble cuz of this technique, but are harder with jb.
I'll watch your demo soon, and see if this is really what I think it is. If it is not, then I'll edit and write some shit. :P
EDIT: Hmm, you stopped right when you made it. Was that on purpose?
i have done it several times on rpz_downfall climb way not on purpous of course but it felt strange
I think something like this was made on a kz_man_redrock sc ( http://tinnet.net/imghost/files/redrocksc.JPG ) like 2-3 years ago. But it was seen as luck and just a accident or something. This proves it's not just luck and that it can indeed be done, GJ NumB :)

This is not a quote against you Numb, but on the topic : DoubleDuckBug ?
We can found two person who has posted a dem on bkz_wallblock with "planebug".
But Numb put a name and a explanation on a bug, this is always useful.

Thanks olimo. =) Also thanks for giving a map example where this bug can be usefull. Will record this sc. =)
Actually I already explained how bug works and how to do it in first post. Named it Plane-Bug, cuz it can be preformed only on plane ground. =P

About DoubleDuckBug... I saw those threads. In first it was a jumpbug (I still have demos of that thread - can upload them somewhere and you'll see it for yourself). Second thread was just an oftopic of the first thread. And about real DoubleDuckBug - yes that technique really exists, but it's not that what was posted in those two and is still private cuz is a part of another technique of what I really don't want to talk, cuz it will go oftopic again.

Pvr and veer post a dem with planebug.
And I don't care doubleduckbug, this is not the place for speak about that.
I'd say it's an edgebug. And I've always thought so. However, it sure does look a bit different than the edgebug were used to know, so a different name would be cool for it. I don't know about "plane-bug" though, it doesn't really tell anything.

Yes that's what I'm taling about. Now let me say it again, but this time after me saying so watch those two demos and than watch my pb demo. So, here we go again... Being a skilled jumpbuger I can surely say that in that demos we see a jumpbug. And to prove that it's true - look at the ground on what jumpbug was made - it's not plane, so is impossible for a plane bug. So I can proudly say that in this thread discussion about pb in that thread (what wasn't even a pb) is :closed: .
// edit:
I had in mind about two demos in first post. Other demos I cannot download. =P But even if there is a plane-bug I will repeat again - I made this thread to bring it up to people, and get this technique in official xj techniques list and mby in xj weekly, so if you say it's old - I don't care, cuz it is not a reason why I created this thread. But wasn't count-jump old when it was found by count? So please - stop saying and trying to prove that it's old, cuz descussion about is it old/new is not the point of this thread.

Plane-Bug cuz it's made on plane ground. Duck-Bug already exists (but is private). DoubleDuck-Bug... Sounds too long and this technique can be done w/o a double-duck - it's just unduck.
Nice, I did that bug yesterday I think, or then it was just a plain jb on a plane platform. Newbies plugin detected it as jb, so I have no idea...
Offtopic: Could someone tell me how you can stay up from the edgebug? Like in the gigablock demo..

This is the last post what I havent ignored where was said that it's old. If newbies plugin would detect it - it would be detected as eb (not jb). If it was detected as jb - than it is an jb, cuz after doing plane bug your Z origin is lower than was before (unlike edgebug and planebug), and his plugin works by the way of scaning Z origin, so there is no possibility that plugin would detect this bug as a jb. If it did - you probably made a jb.
OffTopic: make an eb, strafe back to the edge, duck (this is also called an uber-edgebug).
OffTopic2: lets not go offtopic anymore, plz.
gg for penis bug.
nice found

Yes, after making it I was holding my backwards key, so I wont fly forward any longer (if I would done it - later [lower] I would loose some hp). In other words made so there wont be no hp change in the demo. =)
