I know that i'm going to get hated on for this but honestly it really is not that bad at all, yeah its different from 1.6 and there are a few quirks but honestly its pretty fun, a nice change.

So I was just wondering why YOU (yes you reading this right now) dont climb in CS:S at all.

I do climb in CS:S what are you talking about?!?

I get bad FPS on CS:S.

I have tried CS:S climbing but I just prefer 1.6 for none of the other reasons

I don't like it just because I don't like it GRRlol.

The maps suck on there.

The community and/or servers sucks on there.

I dont own CS:S.

Dun hate, I'm just wondering.

Because there are much more tricks available in cs 1.6. CS:S climbing is at an early stage as far as i can tell from some KZMOD experience. And last but not least: physics of cs:s is far different so a 1.6 pro should learn from scratch

The only tricks that CS:S does not have that I can think of are doubleduck/CJ but it provides many more new ones.

KZMOD != CS:S climbing

And yes the physics of 1.6, KZMOD and CS:S are all different, but not by very much I can switch between playing all 3 and it doesn't really affect me. (though I'm not all that great at any, I do understand if one is trying to shoot for WR's they wouldn't want to mess themselves up.)

Strafing in CS:S sucks like hell....
nothing more to say ^^

converting maps without asking for permissions:
- bkz_goldbhop
- kz_megabhop
- cg_cbblebhop

and making a worest version than the original version

faker mapper18/03/2009 12:46(edited 18/03/2009 12:47)

I tryed it as well and it didn't make any fun because the CS: Source engine is not capable of making all the things possible which make CS 1.6 jumping that interesting: Duck-Standup Bhops, perfect and precise duck, real strafes (CS:S feels like "w-strafing" all the time), etc.

That's why KZMOD was developed (and the hl2 engine was used, not the source engine) in the first place. Because the movement feels really bad... that's also why CS:S will NEVER get as popular as CS 1.6 imo... The gfx is nice, I could get used to the different recoil/hitboxes and grenades, but the movement is soooo bad... it feels like you are a big stone with 1000 kg, not a "human"/player model.

CS:S was meant and designed to be easy and accessable for noobs (new players), therfore it can't get as deep as CS 1.6 can.

cheche18/03/2009 15:16

I just love the freedom of the CS 1.6 engine.

+1 dEMolite

akM18/03/2009 18:20

cuz i dont have css, lol.

DaFox18/03/2009 19:49(edited 18/03/2009 21:34)

^ I'll add that to the options :p

@cheche, faker, dEMolite: In CS:S the default air acceleration is whacked beyond belief, the simplest comparison to 1.6 would be that it feels like your ducking in 1.6, you cannot do strafe jumps ect. Duck-Standup bhops are possible. Yes the ducking is slightly different, and the players view/camera/eyes are a little messed up, But you get used to it.

Pumping the air acceleration up to 100 makes strafing feel exactly like kzmod and very very close to 1.6. Yeah boo non default, but its basically needed.

@dEMolite: I don't know exactly what you mean by that with the maps, they have no standards on CS:S like XJ is for 1.6. The same thing used to happen on 1.6, and still does.

@faker The HL2 engine == The Source engine. Both HL2 and CS:S actually run on the "Episode 1 engine" (Source v1.1 basically) as does KZMOD.

CS:S Became more popular than 1.6 last year.

And.. don't get me wrong, I love CS1.6 and KZMOD but CS:S really is not that bad, I used to dislike it because it was the cool thing to do but its really not half bad.

Don't like CS:S generally.
Never considered it as CS to be honest.

That's what your supposed to think. :)
CS:S is NOT CS and it never will be.

liquidi19/03/2009 04:17

I have no interest learning new physics. On contrary you can ask why would I want to try CS:S? Better graphics? I'll pass.

Dragon19/03/2009 11:55

that game is very slow and the movement is clumsy or how to call it.. the playability is like 10 times lower compared to cs.. I think I'll cope with the fact that there are almost no interactive objects in in 1.6 and I can't use a barrell as a shield

i do have CS:S, but i've been playing only shooting style. seen few movies about CSSkz at youtube, and those moves were kinda weird. i wish to try that one day, but 1.6 seems to be more fun with all those standups etc. as faker said ;] also i don't have enough time to play it, since i'm playing both kz and quake3 defrag.
any info and links about CS:S kz, btw?

Supa22/03/2009 19:23

CS:S > kzmod... kzmod is just too buggy for me

prof. chosen22/03/2009 20:18

Nah man, the physic engine just sucks in source, I'm sorry man, but I prefer the 1.6 engine!
