In this tutorial i will learn you how to make a Curved Corridor so let`s get start.

1. So create your corridor walls it will look like this http://er4o.org/gallery/7c13b4f562af9ca511bee66c00b42fa8.JPG
Now this looks a little confusing and we are going to make it cooler :D.When you make your two walls and make sure they join. Then move them say 16 grid units apart from the join like on this picture http://er4o.org/gallery/06057111c4fbe2559784794470e101b4.JPG
Note: It doesn't have to be 16 it can be more or less but for now let's stick with that.

2. Now once you have done that you need to select CYLINDER from the PRIMITIVES menu and then drag a cylinder into the gap.Make it 16 sides but do not create it just yet. http://er4o.org/gallery/1e217c94cc0f8cf5fb2d0accec86400e.JPG
With this we want to create 4 sided corner. To get 4 sides we must double the cylinders size each way. http://er4o.org/gallery/999a61a7e41d6b18ec103fc7ae041f16.JPG

3.Then create the cylinder. Now all we need to do is get rid of the rest of the annoying cylinder.
Select the cylinder and then use the clip tool (SHIFT-X) to clip the cylinder into one quarter. http://er4o.org/gallery/dfa3328bb4a429ec040cb39100d9a4b8.JPG http://er4o.org/gallery/478dc4aab97b2d78e123a460ab1f236d.JPG
Now this looks more cool http://er4o.org/gallery/e552b8794909cd774f003b9882ce1e27.JPG

4. But How to make the other wall to look like the 1st?
Make the same thing like the 1st wall but this time sellect the ARCH tool from PRIMITIVES. http://er4o.org/gallery/28b239c55118a4d90d51ccbec2328d27.JPG
Note:The wall width doesn`t have to be 50 it can be more or less the Nubmer of Sides i think it should be 4 Arc must be 90!!!
And this is the Finished Product! http://er4o.org/gallery/a62e141ccc51ebf64f05d250f3aa49fe.JPG

Arch not best way ;) i prefer making new block, and cylinder in it, Carve, and then fix cylinder with vertex, to remove light bugs. http://i41.tinypic.com/2wch0m0.jpg

I usually just use arch and end up rotating the blocks http://i40.tinypic.com/2449kep.jpg

nice tutoriaL!:)

i prefer making the curved corridor with vertexed brushes myself.

xPaw carving would be the worst way to do that.

owned: ouch.. you could make floor using only one block and round corners with vertex tool to save lots of wpolys

xPaw mapper15/04/2009 13:39

demolite: i said what you need to fix it with vertex, watch my screenshot, how it looks after fixing.

To avoid wallbugs and get better wpoly, you better make it one solid, like this:
http://www.dump.no/files/6ce43bd6a548/corridor1.JPG - The cylinder I created is just a "model" and I will delete it when I have done my vertex manipulation with the big, boring square brush.
http://www.dump.no/files/6ce43bd6a548/corridor2.JPG - Click the small yellow squares, and press Ctrl + F. Now a new vertex will be created, and you just need to align this with one of the vertices on the cylinder. Repeat this for all, and now delete the cylinder. Or use it as model for the other side of the corridor, if you want.

i don't get how you morphed the cylinder vertexes onto the big solid one puppetz

Thats all you need to do. You can add to every brush new vertex points to them

owned15/04/2009 17:17

what do i select though... i have the cylinder and the square box selected and the i click the yellow squares on the cylinder and hit ctrl f each time, but all it does is make more points on the cylinder, not the square

xPaw mapper15/04/2009 17:20

watch puppetz screenshot again, he placed cylinder at top of brush, and by creating new points on solid one, moved them like it looks on cylinder, so this way he did cylinder on solid brush.

i still don't get how he created the vertex points on the square ! this makes no sense rawr

take the big brush and cut it with the clipping tool a couple of times, there u have your vertex points :P

PsYxOpAt mapper15/04/2009 20:16

axax radon :D

xPaw mapper16/04/2009 11:28

i did small video, to show how to do them :D

Timmycakes mapper16/04/2009 17:48

wow thats way EZ :O im glad theres a way to do that and still only have 1 brush xD im guessin u can do that for rounded corners that are concave right? (i think thats the right one, concave, convex...whichever one is the opposite of in ur vid :P )

nice tutorial :D
