some questions.
Hi, I am new in mapping and am working on a kz project right now.
I'd like to ask few questions:
1.How can i add a model into the map?
2.How can i make black part of texture transparent?
3.How can i include wad in bsp?
1 - this may not work with every fgd (ask #mappers for another if yours doesnt work), but make a point entity cycler_sprite, browse a model file and voila.
2 - After making an object, tie it to entity (i suggest func_illusionary) and set Render Mode to Additive (or Solid for making 0 0 255 part transparent).
3 - Check "Submit Maps" link, theres one image which shows where and what do you have to write before compiling (Run - Expert - "-nowadtextures" to csg)
1. You can create models with the cycler or cycler_sprite entity. You might not have the right fgd where cycler_sprite can be used for models. Here's the one I use: http://www.dump.no/files/e3c8601b9c48/counter-strike.rar
Just browse to your model in the Model/Sprite field, and remember to delete all of the path except models/modelname.mdl.
2. The black part of the texture becomes invisible when render mode of an entity (e.g. func_illusionary) is set to "Additive"...
3. You can include your textures into the BSP in a couple of different ways. Most preferably "-wadinclude wadname.wad" if you are mostly using custom textures, which aren't in the default CS wad files (halflife.wad, cstrike.wad, etc.). Remember to type -wadinclude for every .wad file you include.
You can also use -nowadtextures for including your textures in the BSP. But this includes all textures you used (also the ones from default CS .wads) so your BSP file will become bigger than necessary, if you are using textures from the default CS wads. -nowadtextures is nice and easy if you're only using custom textures.
If you are only using lets say halflife.wad, you don't have to -wadinclude it, cause it is already used by the game.
There's also -wadautodetect, but I never really tried that. You can read about it here: http://zhlt.info/command-reference.html#hlcsg
Hope you got it all, otherwise join #mappers to get more help.
thanks :)
