Yaight, I've got this idea, which could make a bhop map faster.
Here's the deal:

JUST A THEORY
Since strafing back and forth (<--> <-->) makes you stay in air longer,
if you jump at the lbock straight ahead after just bouncing on the previous one, it should save time since you hit the block faster than you would with strafing back and forth.. say 4 times.

This doesn't apply for hard blocks, obviously since the strafes are needed to actually make the block. But doing this on some blocks of a map like goldbhop where it's just easy block after block.

I tried doing this on a server and I didn't time it or anything but the sound of hitting the block with just going straight, possibly developing a less effective but better than nothing strafe, going up and down. 2 Should be enough or 1 normal or nothing at all actually. Depending on how hard the block is. Doing this will save you time (if it's 10ms then imagine what 10 blocks does), ofcourse if you endup needing to strafe anyway because you lost so much speed to make the block ahead, that doesn't make the run slower because that is what you would do normally anyway, so infact it's only gained time by doing this "tecnique"?

didn't understand, mb demo?

borys[k]ed13/07/2009 14:35

do you mean like instead of jumping on the first block, just run on it and kind of start bhop from itbefore it goes down? that might work actually

No that's not what I mean.
I'll do a demo now..

(Don't know the map, I got it of off XJ's server, that's where I got the idea from, this map)

First was normal,
Second was the shizzle but poorly executed,
could be done faster ofcourse ;p
And I don't know the map so I didn't know if there were skips or whatever.

the map is called kzarg_egytiannight, i read this in console, but i havent got it, and its not on xj and on google:/ so i cant watch the demo

wtf this is not oficial map ?

I don't think strafing in the air makes you stay in the air longer, does it? It just makes you go further, if you do it correctly.

Well i already though about something like that , but for more efficiency you just have to do duck bhop sometimes on easy part

Falcon punch fooooooo

The map was dled from XJ's server :o I didn't know about it either

Strafing doesn't add airtime lul. But instead of doing standups you could do regular bhops, and instead of regular bhops you could do duckbhops. Then your airtime would be less and it would go faster if you got the same amount of jumps, which is kinda impossible. But people should try to do as many duckbhops as they can.

Short answer: No, you wont save anytime at all with this "technique".

Aww

Duckbhop + normal bhop (not standup) would give you an advantage of some sort?

You hit the ground faster if you do a regular non-standup bhop after the duckbhop instead of just constant duckbhopping - this is also alot easier to perform - I'm sure that you will get the same results with this style as you would with constant duckbhopping.

Here is what I know about the airtime:
with doubleduck/CJ u got the minimal height
with bhop/duckbhop u got normal height on the 1st jump then it starts to decrease on each hop and reaches the minimum limit after few hops, but when u do standup your height increases, but its still lower than normal jump.
if u do bhops with standups u'll got more height than regular bhops but still less than normal jump. (Just do some experiments with the "display height" plugin).
Anyway the doubleducking/CJ-ing way is faster but I don't believe that some1 could to it cuz its harder than bhoping with 1200 gravity (u need to strafe all the way and doing unducks on the perfect frame or the run will be f'ckd up)

That actually does make sense. A few bhops before a bhop lj anyone?
