In the right corner of the bottom of the screen when in Hammer, you see some numbers.-for example,@384,1152,or @900,-100.
When you start making a solid, next to those numbers you will see numbers, indicating the size of the block:for example,at default grid size(or 64 units),when you make a block the same size as one of the grid blocks in everyone of the three grids, the block you just created will be 64units long,64units high, and 64units wide,or,as you will see on the screen,64w,64l,64h.Every time you change the structure of the solid-vertexing it,making it bigger, etc, the numbers will change too, indicating the lenght, width, and height of the block in units. That way you can measure the distances between jumps.

the higher the highdifference of the jumps the lower has to be the lengthdifference

well, you can see the units allot of places actually.

here your can change wich grid size you want, (this is also units) so if u want to use a grid of 8.. its snapping your object for every 8th unit.

in the right bottom you can see this:

this will also show the units. as big as you make the brush... as more length and width and height it gets. you can also see your current grid size. u never need the cordinates so just ignore them :)

hope u can use this :)

knowing the exact units is probably not important, a good way to judge scale though is to use info_player_start. This entity places a ct spawn in the map. It is a block the same height and width as a player, so is good for judging distance.

sorry matty but the info_player_start can't be used for length

true demolite, but it helps you to get a sense of scale, i did actually imply that it is not for measuring units "knowing the exact units is probably not important", please read my comment properly first. unless angie is another nub making a superfluous longjump map my comment about info_player_start will probably be quite useful. i was originally informed of it in a tutorial by Zaphod_Beeblebrox, ever heard of him?
