windows xp limiting my fps to 60, cant solve
hi, I usually play cs on my PC, that is running at Ubuntu (linux)
I have never had a good fps, max was 70 - 95 on a map very clean like kz_longjumps2, and fps 30-60 at awp_rooftops.
These days me and some school friends wanted to make a cs shooting clan, so we went to a lan. I liked to play in lan, good mouse, I can use mouse fix, etc.
But the fps is limited to 60, I downloaded the RivaTuner but I really cant use. I am trying to find on google some tutorials, but is a little hard to understand, if someone can explain or post a screen, would be great!

1. Is vertical sync disabled?
2. What kind of gfx card do you have?
3. PC specs, background processes?
right click on you`r desktop , then go to NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL , then go to ADJUST SETTINGS MANUALLY , then go to the finish where is says something like VERTICAL SYNC , turn that option OFF . Your`s is probably seted to "let the aplication decide" .....turn it off and you will have 100 FPS .
Also check in counter strike the fps settings :
fps_max 100
fps_modem 100 or 0 .....whatever you want.
Its important that you have the latest drivers from nvidia.com ..... .
If you don`t know how to get the latest drivers just post here you`r VIDEO CARD model and i will give you a link .

sorry, haven't explained it right. I have fps 60 everytime, I am using fps_max 101 and still fps 60.
Its not a "bad pc problem", is just that the Windows XP is limiting the max fps to 60, dont matter if I use high resolution + 32 bits with many processes open, or low resolution + 16 bits.

It's all to do with V-Sync!!!
man i just got tired of those "60 fps" threads... and also got tired from replies such as "vsync off" "fps 101"? i mean you have to be A COMPLETE Idiot if you are not playing with 100 fps. also i turned ON my vsync just to see smth, and my fps is about 75-85 , jumps up and down. what most guys have as a problem is that their fps IS STUCK to 60.0. the problem in 99.9 % of those cases is not vsync ofc.
also i really hope that ur vcard settings are not set to quality but to performance.
v-sync limits you`r fps to the freq level of you`r monitor aftermatch.
you had 75 because you`r monitor has 75HZ freq ....this guys monitor probably has 60 by defaul ....like mine..
Everybody gives this advice with v-sync because is the most "popular" problem . If he has v-sync off then we will se other things.
Now i`m asking him again , DO YOU HAVE v-sync OFF ???????????????????????????????
I putted it off. Instaled the Refreshlock and put hz85. I think its the maximum there, so I cant play on 100fps only 85?
