trigger_hurt issue
in a map i am making (not kz :P ) i have a set of platforms that are connected to a button. the button, when pressed, causes players to be hurt when they step on the platforms.
my problem is when the button is toggled on and the round restarts it remains on through the next round. i need a way to make it reset every round. i want to keep the button flag on "toggle" so i need a way to make it restart at the beginning of every round.
anyone know how? thanks
I've ran into this problem many times myself. I haven't tried to make such a "reset system" for buttons, but on the face of it, I'd say you should try and make a little invisible func_door entity somewhere (in a wall preferably) which triggers your func_button. Here's how it works:
A trigger_auto (maybe with a little delay) triggers the func_door, which is set to "stay open" and has "Fire on close" set to the name of your button.
When the round restarts, the door closes (func_door is one of the few entities that resets itself every round) and triggers your button, and it opens again, ready to do the same thing next round.
That's how I remember it works. Too lazy to test it, but let me know if it doesn't work, then I'll try and investigate it a little further.
set a timer on it better, so it would be triggered for certain time.
maybe is there a way so that only a certain TEAM is damaged by the trigger_hurt? (the terrorist team in my case)
or maybe i will just have the trigger_hurt on a timer but how do i do that with the button? so that it remains on for, for example, 10 seconds and then turns itself off?
a button-triggered door is easy to put on a timer because there is an option for this in the entity, but not for a trigger_hurt :o
http://kreedz.pri.ee/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?475 - a tutorial i wrote year ago, just replace the trigger_push entity with trigger_hurt one, if you don't understand then ask meh :]
