IMO when people would reach unbeatable blocks ex 257 lj or even maybe 258 245 hj etc...
There should be a new made that would have for example:
258.2 lj , 258.4 lj 258.6 lj etc...
Or if thats too easy than 258.5 lj.
same for bhop hj cj....
Or even maybe .1 difference blocks :P
what do you think?

Ever tried cs mapping? I do not think so.

TlofT08/12/2009 23:47

^^ yeah i think it would be hard to get them perfectly distanced. and taking lj blocks to the decimals seems very unneccesary since whole unit blocks still arent viewed as very important.

WownuK;09/12/2009 00:48

how can you divide a unit in 2 parts? i think it's imp.. well, i've never tried, but i can't imagine if it's poss..

when i read that i was like "wow i cant believe i never thought of that"

i think its a good idea, and if its possible with mapping why not.

if maps go into decimals, why cant ljs?

soon enough its going to get to the stage where its impossible to beat the wr by a whole unit block. and at first glance i like this as a solution (if its possible ofc)

remake09/12/2009 05:32

the question "ever tried cs mapping?" was also an answer to his idea.
it's impossible, 1 unit is the minimum for resizing.

It is possible to make xxx,xxx blocks, but it's random in a hammer. I've already posted a solution here more than year ago.

opa09/12/2009 11:47(edited 09/12/2009 11:50)

It is possible but you get very random numbers as FoF said. Lets say we want 258.5:
Make the block with 259 one edge and 258 other edge. divide it int two parts (mappers should understand me) and delete the part with 259-edge. The thing that is left has 258.5 and 258 edges. Now you should know which side to jump

The other idea is:
Repeat the last technique and stop when you divided the block and deleted the bigger part. Now simply you got 0.5 unit snap-to-grid point in the middle of your block, just leave that point in other side until you make a block. (just use it in ground-side, not jump-side) As you make a block, cut the 0.5 part to rectangle so you don't have lowered fps cause of this.

If any1 needs graphical explanation (which would be A LOT easier to understand), jst ask

Sorry for my bad english improvisation

I'm pretty sure it's still impossible. Let's just give a try opa - make some blocks with that tech and try to compile.

dEMolite mapper09/12/2009 15:27(edited 09/12/2009 15:27)

stupidest idea ever to make x.1 or more unit

full units is better then everything.

spoking from a Level Designer side.

puppetz mapper09/12/2009 15:45(edited 09/12/2009 15:45)

Doesn't the compile tools move all edges which aren't in the grid (to the grid) anyway?

What a GREAT idea!
I'd actually suggest instead of 0.2 or 0.1 - 0.01! We can see the real longsjumpers there

- Heeeey I jump 258.36 on block!
- You sucker! I can 258.39!!!!!

spr1n mapper09/12/2009 19:10(edited 09/12/2009 19:11)

0.01 is not enough, the reeeeal longest jumps should be counted
go for 0.000001

and later we'll see whos the ultimate JBer when we change the rules (sv_maxvelocity 999999999 = default)

PWN.

Rlly good idea. Making jb records thingy, sorted by maxvelocity ;D

kz[a] Hazard10/12/2009 02:00

im cool because i think lj is lame

FoF mapper10/12/2009 09:32
