Adding sounds/music?
Hi, this is my next question :D
i have a problem with the sound in my map. i wanted to make a room where sound is playing when entering the room. i used ambient_generic. the values are: path filename: thepath.wav, volume 10, start volume 10, the rest on standard valaues und on flags only medium radius. the sound should not be triggered. so the problem is that no sound is playing when i entering the room. is there a special trick to do such a room oder do i have to use a special wav value file (i mean kbps, mono, etc)

Bit Rate 176kbps
Audio sample size 8 bit
Channels 1(Mono)
Audio sample rate 22kHz
Audio format PCM
that is what every1 (even me :P) using for .wav files ;)
hi,
if it is music you want to play you need to have a loopable sound ... not all .wavs are loopable : if not your sound will play at map start once and never play again in less its triggered again.

To loop the sound you simply have to put a special mark inside your wav file. This is necessary because HL is in my opinionon a total shit when it comes to sound and music.
1. It only supports mono 8bit WAV files
2. LOOP flag in Hammer does not work at all!
Forget that flag. Simply put that mark (sry I forgot what the exact name of it is :( at the very beginning of your WAV so that HL will jump back there everytime it finishes playing the sound. Btw. if you have LOOP-flag set off it also loops if there is such a flag in the WAV. Only that mark controls wheter you file will be looped or not.
I used Adobe Audition to put that mark.

w00t, new map from skitz :D
You will also find information on this if you look for a sticky thread by FikoN in which he lists some helpfull pages.
I've just installed my good Adobe Audition and checked it. It is called:
cue point
In Adobe Audition you have to check "Save additional non-audio information to file" when you save your WAV.
