Mystery bad pre
So me and a friend of mine are having a similar problem. We're both fatigued from practicing, and this problem wasn't a problem before, so it's probably related to the fatigue. But something I'm doing is causing my pre to drop rapidly when I'm setting up to do a lot of good strafes. It goes as low as 230, worse than just moving forwards.
It's almost like a high jump effect, except on normal blocks. I don't really understand it, maybe someone can explain it to me.
Distance: 235.747512 MaxSpeed: 316.012207 (58.318) PreStrafe: 257.694061 Strafes: 5 Sync: 83
?!? :(
your pre strafe turn isn't good enough. i dont know how to help you.. try ta only train the pre without any strafes, then when you are doing ~270+ all the time, add the strafes.
hope you get your pre back! ;)
when I pre with just 1 strafe (pre + right turn) I get 274-275 constant. As soon as I start adding strafes, it goes downhill. It even says 274-276 pre on the speedometer until just RIGHT before I take off, then I hear a tiny footstep noise and my pre plummets to 250 or lower.
it makes noise when you jump.. sounds like your holding your pre too long and coming around the circle too much
or maybe the problem i used to have. when you jump, you run (W presed) then you pre strafe (W and D/A pressed) then jump, relase W to do the first strafe without relasing A/D and then strafe like always.. my problem was that after the pre strafe, i relased W before jumping because i was thinking in the first strafe, so the pre strafe goes 250- again. try fixing that
i think you jump too late. I have this problem with my right pre.
Man this is really annoying. Whenever I get 50+ gain, my pre is usually terrible, except occasionally when this happens:
Distance: 248.070617 MaxSpeed: 331.062652 (56.711) PreStrafe: 274.350708 Strafes: 5 Sync: 79
1 11.323 0.000 17.3 75
2 10.223 1.148 14.7 90
3 12.661 0.730 24.4 77
4 12.237 1.071 27.3 70
5 10.266 0.079 16.1 91
But usually it's this:
Distance: 217.865875 MaxSpeed: 284.719787 (48.826) PreStrafe: 235.893783 Strafes: 5 Sync: 71
I think cookie is on to something. So the key is to not release forwards until after u jump?
Men with this stats you should jump 250+ even its only 5 strafes lol.
331ms and only 248 sounds like strafes are too wide.
what blocks are you jumping on? cause unless you have a fit every time you get bad pre, it really looks like edge friction
maybe you should try switching to opposite pre...
Its strange, I jump with W+A pre but with W+D pre I can take 275 easy but cant strafe :X
try to do your strafes faster, expecially your 3rd and 4st
someone made a curse on you dude :/
a lot of people i know get a fucking stupid thingy that fuc** their pre. they always clean there config, and use a new one. and that thing desapears
3 12.661 0.730 24.4 77
4 12.237 1.071 27.3 70
Thats why it aint 250....
And to your pre.
You shall jump off in an angle of 45degree at left/right depends on what pretype your choose to use.
You will still have pre and get a nice first strafe.
Cheers
use /speed and slowmo to help increase prestrafe, also turn slowly try to do it like otcheto and sniperok - they have really good turns
also u have same problem as I do on my left pre - which I get 275speed then my strafe turn ruins it, all this is u have to let go of 'w' and strafe,
However, my right pre is always pro - 274+ constant 100% dunno how, like ikm xD
Thanks for the help everyone. I recorded some demos with /keys and looked at them in slow motion and you guys are right, it has to do with that strafe turn. I will practice making it better and hopefully, when combined with that good strafing, I'll be getting 250s again!
like wils said, those strafes are too huge. almost 52% airtime is a lot for 3/4 strafes
i know something about this probleme because i have sometimes the same ^^ some ppl dont look to what they push at the jump but i do always. it is when u start to prestrafe and miss the transitional to the first strafe. its probably a tenth that u miss.
just jump 1 strafe, look at ur pre and start slowly to do more strafes.
i hope it helps

same problem but i fixed it when i go W then W+A i was stop holding W before i jump and in that way the prestrafe goes away try to hold W as many as possible jump and then release it
