Hey you guys, I was just wondering which one of all the operating systems is the best for a PC. As a matter of fact I allways had Microsoft Windows XP ( i never had linux, vista or the new windows 7...). So I desided that 2 heads is better than one :D so lets discus with all of you experienced computereologists, which one do you think pwns among them all?

P.S. Sorry for the bad english and I allso hope that there isn't another thread with the same subject, because I was too lazy to search :D.

What's your PC config?

I got Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits, it's simply uber...

Windows 7 is by far the best OS I have ever had. I was in love with xp and was a bit sceptic about changing to win 7. But im glad i did. Im running 32 bit because 64 bit is incompatible with some applications (and because I only have 2 gb ram witch makes it pretty pointless to run 64).

XP for gaming, OS X for media, Linux for servers.
+ Vista for stupid people that haven't realized how shitty that os is, and 7 for.. everything i guess (ofc only if you got a good pc)

Vegas, Photoshop and After Effects are so damn fast with windows 7 64bits, even if I "just" got 4Go RAM. My computer is a laptop though ^^

Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, the best OS ever. You won't regret it.

Godlajk30/12/2009 12:09

Windows Vista Ultimate here.. And it's not something to be proud of. Very bad OS.

At my school, there are education movement that can make you buy an update from vista/xp to 7 ultimate for only 32€. I need it so hard :D

My personal favorite is GNU/Linux (I'm most fond of the Debian dist), but really GNU/Linux is better than any m$ OS in a lot of aspects. The biggest reason people choose m$ is cause of their $ and giant market monopoly (i.e. people want to play games, and game developers develop exclusively against crappy systems that m$ put out etc.).

se7en 64bit

Why would you need a good pc for Windows 7..?

You seem to be a bit biased about Vista. It totally pwns in Photoshop: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/reviews/windows_7_review?page=0%2C3

nikitich moviemaker30/12/2009 19:51

xp

TlofT30/12/2009 19:53(edited 30/12/2009 19:53)

nice link flibo. xp does better than i would have thought.

and 7 uses similar amount of resources as xp, so you don't need a great comp for it

boom.dll30/12/2009 20:34

7 is sooo much more easier and user friendly than xp or vista. its by far the best microsoft OS i`ve tested. i would go for a MAC tho... those things are beasts :P

theL0w^30/12/2009 20:41

xp + windows seven.
