As you know the current timer withe the hp charger use 290 entitys and the limit in cs is 512, so you can't do big bhop maps... with lights and other stuff your left withe about 150 bhop blocks to make...

So i made a sketch that will require only 4 entitys http://yfrog.com/06timeruj

So, there are 2 wheels with func_door_rotating, that will rotate lets say 10 degree every second and will be activated by a multimanager and they will be stoped by an changetarget ...

So will it work ? i didn't try to make it because i don't have the time now ..

If this will work the only downside is that it will be very big, but it will be easy for the mappers to hide what players don't need to see ..

I probably get your idea, and i like it.
I was just wondering how will the door rotate every second to the particular direction automatically, plus if it WOULD work, then it would have to rotate in strict time periods, so that it wouldn't get stuck...
e.g. if the timer stopped between one and two seconds, you would not know the official time of rec, one or two seconds?

Well the degree of rotation must be set so that when the door is activated it will roate the distance necesary to show the next number..

And the func_door_rotating will have on flags "one way" so in will rotate just in one way ...

And in the multimanager will be something like
Sec1 0
sec2 1
sec3 0
....
sec60 60

It will nead about 6000 values in the multimanager to work an hour (that will be enough for any map ... )

"e.g. if the timer stopped between one and two seconds, you would not know the official time of rec, one or two seconds?"
That can not happen because the door will be activated by the multimanager, and on every activation in will rotate the preset degrees and the stop, and start again when the multimanager will activate it

Personally i don't know if the multimanager supports 6000 values, if not it can be with more multimanagers ..

It will need a lot of work to make the textures for it and to measure the distances and degrees to work corectly but i think it will be simpler to make than the current timer ..

limit in cs is 512

Completely not true. From standart its around ~1500, but it can be passed over with -num_edict start parameter.

hmm seams that your right ...
I did some testing and the solidentities limit is 512 and pointentities around 600-700 .. still my idea will save about 45 solidentities... anyway is not that many ... there is no point to waste time on this kind of timer ...

and multimanager can only have 16 values so if you say that it will need 6000 values then OMG!

Yep... You need quite many multi_managers in that case :( I wouldn't be exactly sure of the precision either. I've had bad experiences with rotating timers.
