Bhop hack adventure!
Ontopic: Its pretty obvious imo when someone uses a bhop hack all you gotta do is listen half the time
I'm not wrong. Unwritten rules -> rules that don't exist and don't have to be followed.
The Staff can take any decision they want, even if it's not written in the rules.
It's already hard for most of the members to read 90 lines of rules in english lol, so just imagine if we had to writte every little thing as Country laws, would you even read it?
I don't think so.
It's the internet, do whatever you wish, but in the case of owning and using the old FPS Death admin version, your presence on the website is not wished anymore.
You'll be able to enjoy your FPS Death as much as you want, but not the website.
I'm gonna edit the Rules since many of you don't get the fact that we can take any decision we want even if they're not written in the rules, you seem to forget that we're not a country, simply an online-game community website.

So, if I join the website, I have to waste my time on reading every single thread in this forum to know what actually is allowed and what's not? You either have to add everything in the rules or delete the rules, having a list of rules and an ability to ban everybody for unknow and unwritten rules doesn't really fit.
Maybe I really wouldn't read all these rules, but atleast I would know I can do that anytime and by not following some rule, admins can punish me for a reason.
I checked that demo and its aa100 and it wasn't recorded on LAN I think-, I can't detect exactly if someone use cheats or not using illegal settings...I should watch the demo but not now, maybe later.

Or you could use a thing called common sense.

Why do you keep underestimating the users in XJ? Not very nice behaviour from an admin... And certainly there are some people who are willing to read a long list of rules and most definitely an inclusive rules page IS needed. It's not like a country would make a book of law which is like "1. The government is always right 2. Use common sense". Specific information is needed, I don't see why an internet community would be so different that it doesn't need specific rules unless the admins aren't taking the website seriously.

Not everybody wants to waste hours to record a demo which he doesn't know if it is allowed for example. There are (or at least were) countless loopholes in the rules that could be used for an "unfair advantage", but knowing XJ I just had a feeling that they wouldn't be accepted.
Of course they wouldn't :)
How dumb does a person have to be that the moment he discovers a technique that gives advantage to the jumper starts to demo and submits new wrs for maps WITHOUT asking an admin wether it's allowed or not. Common sense 101.
Flibo you're not being realistic about filling every loophole the rule page says, if you ACTUALLY find a loophole speak up... Don't just shut up and cry XJ to fix it themselves.
It's idiotic the demand XJ to spend so much time making the rules here ironclad when it's obvious how NOT to break them? Is the competition so tough that you need to develop advantages how to beat other people? Why don't just jump like everybody else does... L2P sort of speak...
Oh and: "countless loopholes", shouldn't you be sharing this information? And quite frankly should you even look for them? I know the rules, not by heart but I can submit a demo what would be accepted, I only had to read the rules once and read the following upgrades later. If someone fails at doing so... Bye.
EDIT: And as far as I know/remember you've never had a demo declined and you're here to speak up for the rest of the people so I'm not targeting anyone specific.

Don't you see the problem here? I have to ask an admin every single time. Not just me, but everybody else. Admins would actually save a lot of time and effort perfecting the rules.

Well, first it would be nice if it would be defined that what "an advantage" means. LJ stats aren't forbidden, a plugin timer apparently isn't forbidden, but using /speed is forbidden. I don't exactly see the logic there. Would making non-solid models with a plugin on top of invisible blocks (making them appear as normal blocks) be forbbiden also? It doesn't give you any concrete advantage against other players. Where is the limit? I don't also see how common sense would bring a solution to this problem.

That's a pathetic attitude in my opinion. XJ is a pretty big international community. They have quite some power in the kz scene. With great power comes great responsibility, it would be "nice" for them to write a good formal rules page. Am I not supposed to know the limits of legal actions? And obviously developing advantages is the whole point of the whole gaming scene and countless other things. You want to be better than others, or at least improve, right?

Hm... Didn't you just repeat what I quoted above in different words?
For the showing the invis blocks with a plugin gives you great advantage, eyesight over others.
"And obviously developing advantages is the whole point of the whole gaming scene and countless other things. You want to be better than others, or at least improve, right?"
Yes but like I said at the beginning of my earlier post you're not really supposed to go redo all wrs and be all yey if you discover a new technique that gives you that ability. Of course you can take your time figuring out new techniques but XJ cannot make rules agaist undiscovered techniques. A rule: "If you discover a new technique, tell it to admins before you start using it" isn't as precise as you would want a RULE to be.
But you do have a solid point about asking what's legal, I'd guess if hundreds of different people go to IRC and ask admins is such thing allowed might take more time and effort. Hence making the rules more clear seems logical.
And for the /speed and such things, well I kinda get why /speed isn't allowed since you can wallrun easier/better, making it not about skill as it was before. Oh and it's even explained in the rules: "Being able to see your velocity gives you an advantage on running parts."
Plugin timer not forbidden? I remember you were not allowed to do /up during a run or anything that shows your time. -> "You may not use any other timer than the original one."
But the original topic (no, not really the orig topic about bhophackers) of rules being more clear and precise starts to make more sense now when I think about it.
Bit terrified of over labouring the already few active admins we have who are already I guess stugling with the changes new decimal system brought:S. I guess that's where my resentment over the "write better rules" topic originally came from.
Offtopic, djeeeeehhh !
Ok please close this now because they have already started flaming in this thread. Thanks anyways for the first answers, now you shouldn't argue for nothing because the subject of the thread was "it is bhop hack or no? if you can't say can you explain me when it is bhop hack?" but you go on another way, a derivation of the first subject that actually hasn't anything to do with the first subject.
It's not flaming, it's called a discussion. However, yeah, this thread is quite done.
