yea, chillout is one of my fav types, I'm listening mostly to Vibrasphere, and some random songs I've got from e-radio.

If you think of your music taste in the form of a vagina you will see, that if a huge, rugged monster penis brutally penetrates a vagina repeated times through a long period of time your vagina will be rathed torn apart and no regular penises will fit there tightly enough to bring you sexual satisfaction.

For me, in music, something extremely similar has happened. I've been listening to extremely brutal music of all sorts, varying from extremely harsh noise to brutal death metal and some experimental and just simply harsh and brutal darkstep-tracks. After having my music taste completely ripped apart by these brutal penises of the music scene I no longer get that "feeling" from these regular penises (penis = music).

... however, weirdly enough, I find nearly all triphop/downtempo-tracks very good. Unfortunately I didn't really like any of the tracks you linked and opinionated (is that even a word?) but yes, I do like some "relaxing" music. Such artists as Amon Tobin, DJ Food and, well, Ken Nordine who has this deep and resonant voice that just almost gives you shivers. I recommend you listening to DJ Food's track "The Ageing Young Rebel" where which Ken Nordine speaks the vocals. Also listen to his stories of colors (found in YouTube).

When I saw level2's movie "Stereo Surfing" my musical senses were re-tweaked. I hadn't listened to nearly any "soothing" tracks for years until I saw the movie, I actually had previously owned all the CDs of Ninjatune(s) and those CDs contained basically all the tracks that were used in the movie. It was just such a delightful feeling to hear the good old tracks that I used to listen years ago.

The genre 'chillout' isn't something I really enjoy listening at, but it doesn't give me this repulsive/I-want-to-vomit -feeling such as pop/R'n'B does. Its quite neutral to me. Kind of like Switzerland... hey, that reminds me; did you hear about their "plans" to ban all violent games and other sorts of games that can have a bad influence on the player? Thats just wrong in my opinion, besides a humanbeings mind isn't controlled by the games, they will actually develop your social skills and other things that will help your everyday-life such as your reflexes and senses. Such games as World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike will be banned, so R.I.P. to the Swiss kreedz scene. TROUbl3m4k3R, tOni, LohoX and everyone... I want you guys to know that I am here for you.

Nice list Dragon :) But i did not find the last 3 relaxing. More like Trance, DnB and Techno. But it was pretty nice after all.

Dragon25/03/2010 16:01

yeah you're right, basicly "chillout" can define a genre , or just any kind of music that makes you feel relaxed.
