It actually was and wasn't a sarcastic comment at the same time. You know, Schrödinger's cat.

Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment, often described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. It illustrates what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics applied to everyday objects. The thought experiment presents a cat that might be alive or dead, depending on an earlier random event. In the course of developing this experiment, he coined the term Verschränkung — literally, entanglement.

The maps terrain is "rocky" yet affected by the craftsmanship of humanbeings. It could be an abandoned mineshaft but there are no tracks for the tenders, so that option could be instantly ruled out... but what if it was a mineshaft under construction? Perhaps. The terrain could also be an ancient/old cave where people used to live in the "old days", such "houses" were inhabited by Egyptian people, but the lushness of the zone itself does not point that way. Maybe its a mineshaft for alien Egyptians who live in an alternate universe?
