No doubt this is between zhady and brian. I will think about it and then come with an answer. It's a pretty tough question. I can't see how you can argue for someone else. A lot of people base it on the style of the player, but that is not the question, the question is who has had the most effective style in the history of KZ.

Didn't FikoN go with spacebar bhopping too? He had no scroll on his mouse.

Doesnt mean hes the best ever lol, dont really get why people post this type of thing.

Would've worked if there was no "ever" in the topic title, but yeh fail by pheil. :)

How's that a fail? Koukouz has the most records, and who has he taken them from? The old guys. Everybody has the same chances to break records. Sure, they just might have gone inactive even though they could improve their records, but that doesn't necessarily in any way relate to his criteria of the best jumper. The amount of world records isn't in my opinion directly proportional to the jumper's skill, but again, it's his opinion.

Flibo, let's say Kkz was born in 1990, so Kkz has always been the best at KZ? It just hadn't happened back then yet. Same goes for anyone else who has been #1 at that list. Gogo more fail logic.

3T28/04/2010 15:39

Flibo is the best

I don't really get what you're trying to say. The thread is not "who has always been the best kz jumper?", it's more like "who is the best kz jumper ever?" Before judging my post as "fail logic", perhaps try to express your opinions in an understandable way.

im gonna have to say zhady, and not because he had 100 world records before or whatever, but because of his latest records. Really impressed how he beats people by 5 or more seconds all the time and how the previous record holders rarely if ever beat him back.

But the best bhopper ever is kelta, just had to say it.

gen4y28/04/2010 21:39

Koukouz rapes you all LOL, he is the best WR holder till now ......

im guessing u were pointing that at him, but i would like to explain my opinion, in case someone misinterprets wut i mean.

Just because you have the most records doesnt mean you are the absolute best ever. Yea he is "#1" based on the number of records he has, but the fact is, you dont need 50+ records to be the best. I dont really think anybody can be the best at kz or bhop, because there all probably other jumpers out there that no one knows that can easily compete with the top records at XJ. I just dont understand why people think that just because you have the most records at Xj means you are the best at kz.

Scary Tournament #230/04/2010 13:41

Okay here goes:

Let's start off with some of the attributes that makes brian and zhady the top of the world.

First off, both players have tremendous speed. In Brian demos it seems to me like the style is a bit more rough, where I thnik zhady's style is more fluently. That is why it's so hard to judge who has the smallest micro on each block, because both styles seems so perfected for brian and zhady. From what I can see their speed is pretty much the same, brian might be faster, but zhady perfects everything and in that way I'd say they are about even in the speed department - A view on different types of maps, easy, medi and hard. They are amoung the fastest players at all.
From an overviewed point of perspective, I'd say zhady has perfected the "european" style, with wide, straight horizontal strafes, where as brian has smaller and faster strafes. One has managed to put his style up for perfection, the other managed to make a unique style that makes him faster, but have room for mistakes.

Bhop wise it's a tough call, both guys have a tremendous standup bhop, I think zhady might have the edge on this one. Brian have no bhoprecords left, where zhady have just BROKEN prochallenge bhop, which is probably the hardest bhop map at all. To base my conclusion on this is ofcourse a bit unfair, because brian have remained inactive for so much longer, and zhady have kept going, just with his foot a bit off the gas pedal. But both guys have an almost perfect bhop, but I think in the long run, zhady is more consistent with perfect standup bhops.

Another very important factor when recording demos is the ability to cut plan a and improvise. It's one of the toughest things to do, but none the less it's very important. If you miss a bhop or take one more bhop too long, the plan for the next couple of blocks might get thrown out the window, and it's here you have to think outside the box and try to make up for lost speed or keep going in a unfamiliar phase and maybe try to bhop some unplanned bhops. Before concluding anything I'd like to say, that obiously these guys rarely makes these kind of mistakes. But when it happens, I believe brian is strongest. I see that he is able to regain plan A by taking clever risks, where as zhady might lose time, trying to get into plan A again. This is a small factor, on the level that these guys compete at, but none the less a factor that I'd say is important.

One more important factor is how long each guy has spend of each record, in average. I must say I have no idea, a lot of people have been saying that zhady geeks a lot and brian doesn't, but I don't think it's like that tbh. I've seen so many demos from both guys where it's either first try or serveruptime has been below 10 minutes. But then again, I don't know if it was the first try or not. I can only base this from what I've seen. I've had the honor of speccing zhady numerous of times where he has been beating a worldrecord in less than 20 minutes, so I think I have strong case for saying that both these boys are extremely consistent.

In the past we've seen some extremely talented players, amoung my favourites are: in the old days: Helferlein (the first top 1, if I am not mistaking, try to watch "kartoffel by helferlein"), FikoN, supa, a0ke, T3dbundy, kimo, tarGet, ndR, Z0ck3r007 and MicroN.
In newer times, kunqui, heL, supa (again, imo one of the most underrated players ever.), puppetz, Kelta, koukouz, skigC, Bibo, soul|ftw and 007.
I'm gonna go a bit nostalgic on this one, because what this "battle" between brian and zhady reminds me of, is back when T3dbundY and Target had their possition. I'd actually say that T3dbundY and Zhady's style are very much alike, where as tarGet and brians style is very similar.
A lot of people will say that T3dbundY and tarGet are still the greatest of all time, I respectfully disagree. T3dbundY had around 50 demos when he peaked, so did tarGet, both having some of the best and mostwanted demos out there. But NONE of these two have done what zhady and brian has done in KZ, zhady having around 117 (?) demos at max, and Brian 91 (?) both having extremely mostwanted maps, in modern days where the competetion is much wider than it was back then. I dont want to go into the "People-were-worse-back-then"-argument, because yeah, while I agree on that statement, I dont agree that it made the game easier - because if everyone was worse back then, the same rules applied for everyone, so everyone was worse back then and on a much more primitive level, yes, also t3d and target. The game just hadn't come so far.
But brian and zhady has reached every goal that t3d and target had, yes they took the throne.

In newer times, no one has been able to take the game to the next level yet, I'd say kunqui and heL did one hell of an effort, but still I don't think they reached the same height and broke the limits as much as zhady and brian did. What will happen with skigC, KeltA and koukouz is up to them, I can easily see them falling back sooner of later, as we've already seen with kelta. So I don't think that these two, great great, players will surpass what have been done in the past - It's up to them to make me believe otherwise.
Who knows they might be the rennasaince of KZ.
Viewed over time, no one has lifted the game more, than zhady and brian, I've been here for many many years and I must say that the "golden" time of KZ was when these two legends broke the expectations of the public over and over again - And never have two players had such lofty expectations as these two.

I once gave brian a challenge, a challenge to beat what I thought was the hardest demos in the KZ world, I think there were amoung 6. In the next two releases I saw brian taking the challenge, unofficially, he beat the first 5 in those two releases. But one demo, stood out, it wasn't beaten, brian stated that he simply could not find the key to unlock this demo and I thought to myself that he failed the task.

But after 3 months, brian beats it. Meaning he has passed the hardest task that one of his toughest critiques could give him. Brian beat sandblock convincingly, and passing the test. I praised him and said that he had beaten the game and that there were no longer any challenges for him to seek. I still stand by that opinion. Brian took the hardest demos that the KZ world could represent all through his carreer. But none the less his carreer was relatively short.

Zhady on the other hand started out by battling ndR for the top 1 slot, decisively beating his records and moving on to make over 100 demos. Next in line was brian, the golden era started and these two gentlemen fought back and fourth for about a year. Brian settled down, zhady kept going, but at a lower phase, but still today, beating some of the most extreme and fastest maps in the world. He still amazes the KZ world with every record he produces and it seems to me that he is able to take at least 60-80 % of the demos out there today. I think zhady's carreer started about 3½-4 years ago, and since then he has produced a bigger number of demos than any other on this planet, he must have had around 250 demos in total, if not more. A trophy that I'd say is the most impressive at all.

Moment of truth, who is the GOAT* of KZ.

I must say that whoever people chose, there will always be a hairthin border between these two gentlemen. These two will forever stand out as the biggest stars of this game, no one can take that away from them. But the person I see as the GOAT of KZ must be zhady! He has never seized the amaze me. Even though I like brians style better I think what zhady has done in the KZ world surpasses everybody, including brian. There is not a shadow of a doubt in my mind that brian could've kept going and made this even closer, but zhady has kept the motivation and the drive to keep going for such a long time, he's been recording through more eras of KZ than anybody (might actually be that micron has done more, but never in the same amount or as consistent.). And these things together I must say zhady is the GOAT.

Some people will argue that brian could've become better and done more. Yeah, possibly, but he didn't. T3d could've? Maybe, but he didn't. No one, besides brian, come close.

These are my 2 (million) cent. And it's based of what I've seen since XJ started as international main community and even before that. Feel free to disagree. This is the opinion of me.

quve30/04/2010 16:11

well krewan, you've missed one hell of a kz history by not reading it.
Scary you deserve an A+ for this little peace of kz history, where the two central characters are indeed the greatest in kz. I liked your points of view and how you've put them into text.
And although i see another player as being the best (bibo) (by seeing something that most would miss, scary isn't one of them tho) this truly is an A+ work from Scary.
