I've been kzing well over 3 years now, on and off. I just started again recently and I thought I was pretty decent until I came across the sandblock map - again. That's when it really hit me. I spent nearly 10 minutes getting to a jump that brian (in his wr demo) could get make in just one minute. So then I started to wonder, what's the difference between his jumps and mine? I watched his demo over and over and I realized he strafed.. a LOT. I've tried to strafe more, but strafing doesn't seem to do me any good. In fact, I actually thought strafing SLOWED me down. I don't get the concept of air strafing off a high terrain... Like if I jump off a block 30 feet off the ground to a block closer to the ground, I never tend to make it. Every time i strafe, I lose speed.

Can anyone precisely explain the strafing method? I can lj 245s and to regular one-strafe jumps easily without any problems. However, when it comes to strafing multiple times to land on another block or jumping from a high block to a low block, strafing seems to slow me down.. any help on this?

think this way. jump with 2 strafes you do like an "S" on the ljbeam , so you lose distance . with more strafes your jump go more straight and you jump long distances. Sometimes is better do like 7 strafes with a low sync and not 4 strafes with 90 sync ... (same gain)

First of all, try to get a good timing with your jumps, try to jump as late as possible. 245 LJ should be well enough to handle kz_sandblock. I remember finishing kz_sandblock when my LJ rec was 240 (just for trivia my second 240 ever was on that very run).

I'd recommend trying to get your strafes together. Just try to concentrate in moving your left and right hands in the same rhythm. A good map to practise this is kz_man_terablock or kz_stoneblock or any high map while using the /speed function. Hook up to the stop button and start jumping down. Start out slow and build up your strafes slowly. Don't rush it.

it shows how fast you're moving, the faster it goes up, the better your strafes are.

sb isn't too bad, but trying to be brian is much harder..

most definitely. but i was just wondering, though.

we all strafe, we all land. what's different between brian and regular kz players? we're all strafing the same way and not like brian's on some other mod.. i don't get how his strafes are faster than ours?

He simply moves his mouse faster and presses a\d with a very high speed while syncing all this shit together. Its all about training.
Go 240 blok and just start jumping 7-8 starfes (or how fast your fingers can go). First you will do slightly over 215 distance fails with almost 0 sync, but in time(week-month) you will jump 250+ stats easily, Just do not be lazy to geek :)
