First league
How to participate in that league?
Finally we managed to create a league, but it is still based on manual admin work.
Not like on other professional sites everything works automatically...
To participate you need to be able to organize and talk English. Admins will not take care of everything, you will be the one who has to handle your own matches. Participation needs responsibility.
Sign up
For signing up you need to give us your steamID. At the moment you sign up you have assured us you are able to handle everything on your own. If the admins have to do extra work, because you are not able to take care of your own affairs, you can be excluded any time. All matches you play will be logged and released on XJ, as well as the demos of these matches. With signing up you agree that you will release all demos to the public.
Requirements to participate
1. You need to be mature enough to talk to every opponent out there. You need to be able to upload files (demos) and you are willed to spend some time in organizational activities.
2. You need to have a lan or internet server you have full access to. The server needs to be accessible through the internet.
3. If you can not forward ports etc., you will install the “Hamachi Client†to play against other opponents.
4. You need to be able to set up your lan or internet server properly. Two certain plugins are needed to participate: mpbhops and a cup plugin.
5. You are aware of the fact that cheating in a ladder has a permanent ban as a consequence.
6. You can manage to find some time for one match (BO5 -> 30 minutes of playing) each week. You have to be around and you need to be motivated to find a certain time with your opponent where both of you can play the match.
Rules for 1on1 matches in the first league
A match takes place on 5 different maps (Best Of 5)
For every won map you earn a point.
Matches are played with a cup plugin. The time of a cup is always 5 minutes (standard).
Both players need to record demos on every single map. If you don't record a demo on one map you lose (your opponent can accept the real result though, but at least one demo has to exist, otherwise the match is invalid).
A hltv demo can replace all in-eye demos.

The matches will be drawn by lot after the league is full.
I like ladder idea cuz it makes site more dynamic. Cups need admins and this is user stuff. Problem arises with cheating, fake matching and so on but I believe we can fix those problems.
I would participate in ladder somewhat but system needs to be light so that it needs minimum effort to play in it.
i think its good but 3 leagues would spread people out too much. some uneven matches would be better than none at all. i would vote 8 man if the same system can be used for 4 and even 2 man too.
League thing sounds awesome!
And I vote for 1v1. Cause demos would recieve more popularity
Good idea. Anything helping revive XJ a little is a good idea, I think.
I vote for the more familiar system, just because I'd imagine 8man being more fun, friends laughing and pointing fingers at some boob who fails the last jump on any map with a huge fall and has to start over. Nah I kid the failure but I'm serious at 8man being more fun.
1on1 could become more of less a private thing where only friends compete. Not nesessarily looking for competing against someone who's a total stranger. Sure 8man can and most likely will be with a few strangers but what I can say about the small amount of cups I've done, I've never done it without anyone I didn't know and it has always been fun in some level:P
I understand the need of spicing up the good ol' XJ, but you could just do that with integrating a cup system into the servers, KZ.ee was pretty popular when there was a cup system.
I understand the perks of 1on1, but I'm bit sceptic how some people could cheat in it (going against total noobs only, changing opponents nick so he can go against you over and over again) btw wouldn't this cause alot of work for the people who will be checking the demos for cheats/scripts/etc...? No more extra job for the demo check team since they've releasing quite seldom.
Assuming this is not going to be a one time deal, like a tournament. Will be on the side or normal cupping or replace the whole thing?

Correct me if i'm wrong but it IS possible nowadays with programs to check public server recorded demo for hacking?

That is true. But when we start having some kind of leagues people will be forced to play against each other. Doing this manually would suck though.
The intention is to finally get rid of the importance of world record demos. It is the only thing XJ is all about at the moment. This bestof5 system is just there to make it fairer.

- nice idea, 'cuz xj needs to be active on something other than wr demos and new movieposts
- rather than splitting it 3 ways, i suggest sub branch it 2 ways - [1] Amateur league and [2] Pro league
- Conducting league [1], make it a Best Of N (n = 8/5/3). That way, only admins need to be present for the amateur league, it would take some pressure off the admins shoulders. Also the advantage would be that, any no of players could register, and be available when they feel comfortable.
- Conducting league [2], make it 1v1, as watching the pro's taking upon 1 on 1 is more fun than doing like in a public messy server. This wouldn't require the presence of an admin, as there would be no cheating in the pro league 1v1 matches, so admin's workload is lessened. Also that the public could get some good 1v1 demos to watch for.
