I'll be straight up honest, this movie starts out great. In fact, I wanna go as far as saying this movie starts out in a way that makes you go "damn, can't wait till this shit gets going for real."
Some great, unexpected shocks occurs and you're like hell yeah, also DEEPLY amazed over John Cusack suddenly being back in a role that actually seems to fit him.

But...

Fuck. Fucky shit fuck fuck. Again he turns into this screaming monkey (check the movie; 2012 for another great example of his monkeylike acting).
The special effects just gets worse and worse, with a $25,000,000 budget It's killing me inside that the effects were that sucky. The story just starts making no sense and then the cherry on top of the cake, the ending sucks.
Turns from a 9-ish to a fucking... What should I rate this..

Such a damn shame.

On a little sidenote, check out John Cusack in the movie "City Hall" from 1996, that was in his younger days, and definitely the kind of role he should be acting.
And if you wanna see Samuel L. Jackson in a role of a size that fits the outstanding actor he is, take a look at "Unthinkable" (2010), this is a fantastic movie that I might write a short review on at another time.
