Demos
Hi. i was thinking if this is happend to some of u. i lost my all demos accidently from cstrike_(finnish)and i can still watch them. so any idea's where did they go. Sry my bad english :|
Also maps, sprite, sound folders and i can still play those maps what i had..

what windows are you running... maybe you have restricted access to that folder... :/

When installing the steam the cstrike is like empty.It has no sprites maps sounds etc but i dont know where could they go :( I hope u didnt lose a cool wr.
Try use programm "Recuva".
i'd try "Rekurwa"
no srsly, if you can still watch em it's all cool. obviously they're just hidden somewhere else. maybe it's caused by your folder display options.. definitly some windows problem or steam switched em to another folder

I had the same problem with some CSS demos. (Yes, if you shouldnt have noticed, I'm a CSS bob)!
Anyways, I wasnt able to see my demos, and I had some really good ones among. Anyways, about the solution, I have no idea, I just started over.
EDIT: This is probaly more or less a year ago.

Default sprites, maps, sounds etc. are stored in the .gcf files.
when u start cs u have default things compressed into D:\Steam\steamapps\counterstrike.cgf maybe somehow u included ur demos into the cgf file, so whenever u clean up cstrike u still have them, like de_dust2 or some basic sprites

nah. tried that hidden files folders think and nah. and im using windows XP ofc u mean that ^^. im too lazy to reinstall cs :|
First step use the search of windows and on put the name of the demo that you are searching.. If there's not here.. Use some recoverer
they were probably deleted incompletely (same happens when you do quick format). file indexes were damaged but files are still in your HDD. something like "recuva" might help.
