Reasons:

- the jumps : There were 2 sides here : Some of the checkers liked them, they thought they are fun to jump and enjoyable. The second side still liked them, but saying that they don’t represent something new. There is indeed a smooth flow in jumping them, but you need to think that there are other maps that have better jumps with a better architecture and environment, and due to this reason, this map will be another forgotten map.

- the textures : You used only a few textures and this thing ruins any chance for your map to be accepted. It doesn’t look like there is something new and fresh. Same old textures that many maps are based on. We are not saying that they don’t fit , but we don’t see a tendency of bringing something new than what we already have.

- the architecture : It’s more like a block type than ruins. The architecture isn’t made in such a way that can indicate the presence of ruins. Besides this there is only one room where you jump, when the 2nd room is totally unnecessary when nothing is going on in it. Such a big room for a timer it’s not a good choice when behind it you still have one room where all the action takes place.
However, about that teleporter in the end... why teleporting to another room with an unrealistic button + teleporter instead of letting the map end right there?

- the environment : The mapname says we should except ruins, but actually there isn’t any particular theme. Like we said, it’s more like a block map. We don’t feel like we are in a place where ruins are.
Leaving aside the ruins part, by judging from what we see, doesn’t help either. It’s still just a map with nothing special

- bugs :

Why there are such random buttons and teleports instead of simply putting timer on top of the blocks: http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/6796/etlruins0005.png

Suggestions:
- Try and make a little more variation based on a theme;
- Before you start working at a map, think first at a concept, but not at a regular one. Try to create something new for the scene. Try to find new ways of building a map and don’t use old concepts, because the outcome won’t be a good one;
- Develop a real concept/theme and by doing this, you’ll notice that everything will change : jumps, textures, architecture and so on;

If you want you can also choose the new system and this means that your map will be checked by the whole community and then by the XJ map team.
