Low prizes for a long tournament of 2man maps..

Do you take kz as a job? If you don't think the pricez is good enought for you Mr than don't join the tournament. When everyone else join because they think it's fun.

Thank you for the same opinion.

Word!

You play a random cs mod and you are given the opportunity to have some fun and get a little bit fame and expect to get prizes and get payed for that. lol?!

kunqui28/06/2010 20:40(edited 28/06/2010 20:42)

The motivation of players to play a tournament respecting times and rules are the prizes...
You will understand about what I'm talking about when the tournament start and receive only 3 demos.
I don't take kz as a job mate, I do some demos because I like, I have no limits or obligations.. I do it because I like..
however for play a 2man tournament, You need alot of patience.. (Find the correct partner, Time predisposition, etc).. and more important "you have a deadline"
Anyways thanks guys for tell me something that I know...

Good luck with your tournament.. my post wasn't offensive.. I just told you what I think again.. feel free to answer without insults or flame..

Kunqui does have a point. Money is a necessary motivator in most cases. I don't see geeking for hours as such a great way to have fun. It's pretty boring, frustrating and even stressing. I'm sure some fellow recorders know what I mean. The next time I'll play KZ seriously is when there's a nice tournament with reasonable money prices.

Nothing wrong with this tournament of course. I hope you'll get some participants and get some good competition.

Well, everyone has to start somewhere am I right?

Also this is just one of many upcoming tournaments and competitions in the community, we are already in contact with several companies, a huge increase in both users, partners and prizes is only to come :)

Yes of course you need motivation, but it's really sad, when the fun became based on money as a prize and motivation. I don't believe that geeking a demo with friend is that hard, although I'm not a great jumper, not even more than a beginner, I tried some 2 man maps with friend and we even had lots of fun. Why would you then have no motivation if it doubles the fun and costs probably the same time as beating harder kz maps. You still do it - for fame probably, for your name to be listed in a top, but that is acceptable by me. Or if you geek tricks for your upcoming kz movie, well to be honest trickjump movie/clip, you do it also for fame and the moviemaker gives also the best for fame probably. And it's ok if it's like that, but now I'm sad it goes to waste, just like football/soccer. It's really serious bussiness, I'm afraid xj will be like that and where comes money as a prize, there comes corruption, maybe someone inventive or cheating will find a way how to corrupt others or similar things.

I agree with you n00bkill3r :)

I think I'm not talking to myself when I'm saying that a moviemaker aint doing movies for fame, we're doing it because it's fun to create things.

And ofcourse, it's fun to play a 2man map with a friend, but try to record a demo to win the tournament, it's not like just playing through the map, it will most likely take several hours to get a perfect (or almost perfect) run. And you also needs to find a good partner that wants to geek for several hours aswell. It might be fun for 1 hour or so, but if you don't have the demo you want by then, you need some motivation for it. Therefore it's good to have a nice prize as motivation.

qweek, tell me what are the world record holders getting from their demo recordings? Nothing but fame, no money, no prizes. People play this game only for fun, simple as that. Noqex did amazing thing and actually give something in return which is amazing and should be appreciated. (Even you trolls)

Exactly.

And qweek, you said that mmkrs do it for fun, ok, I agree with that, but also to show off, which means for fame. Yes you need to find a partner who wants to geek it several hours, but don't tell me that players don't geek the kz records for several hours and still don't obtain any money, why would it differ in a 2man cup, it's harder? Then it's more challenging, we have 2 months of holidays, at-least anyone who goes to school and has the similar system.

Don't tell me that you won't find 5 hours a day for geeking then, even if you spent 1 month abroad or spent it working, you still have lot of time.

qweek05/07/2010 06:55

@n00bkill3r, it's still a deadline for it. Trying to beat a record can be fun, you don't have a deadline, you can play whenever you want, you don't need to wait for a friend to get online. A 2man cup with a deadline could be more frustrating. You need to get a great run before the deadline, thats where I think the motivation part comes in.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing he is doing, I just agreed on the point that you need a good prize as motivation.

Firstly, it's straightforward offending that you call me a troll (again). Secondly, you're talking the truth but manage to forget an important thing. People who play play it for fun, right. What else could you even play for at the moment when you can't compete for money prizes? You should ask why the people that don't play don't play. Sure, fame and bragging rights are nice perks you get, but seriously, you do get bored of that after years of it.

This is going too off-topic now.

Gargoyle05/07/2010 13:46

Flibo I didn't call you a troll. I just said "even you trolls", which is noone specific.
