Hi

I wonder why it isnt allowed to use more then 100fps in this community.
I hear things like "you can jump longer, jump higher ect."

Can someone explain how this is possible? how it works?
And also why it is not allowed. everyone would have same opportunity anyway

thanks.

if u have more than 101 fps you have illegal settings.
And kreedz has RULES:

* Demos must be done with these settings:

Server settings:
edgefriction "2"
mp_footsteps "1"
sv_cheats "0"
sv_gravity "800"
sv_airaccelerate "10"
sv_maxspeed "320"
sv_stepsize "18"
sv_maxvelocity "2000"

Client settings:
developer "0"
cl_lw "1"
cl_sidespeed "400"
cl_backspeed "400"
cl_forwardspeed "400"
fps_max "101"

You are not allowed to use any cvar or setting that might give you an unfair advantage compared to the default counter-strike settings (just as cl_sidespeed and so on), even if it's not stated in the list above. Keep your config default!

Higher fps is used in surf and it really helps, so I guess that's why. KZ has always been about default settings.

When u have more than 100 fps, the airtime is longer and you have more time to do strafes and this is called unfair advantage!

if your pc can run cs @ 150 fps, and my pc can run it @ 100 fps, i dont have the same opportunity.

Thanks for answers.
But some of you seems to miss my point. I know that you have to play with default values (fps_max 100 isnt default tho, lol)
What i want to know is what advantage you got from higher fps.

So this is the only thing?

Well, "only"? This is the main thing :)

The beauty of kz is that all the jumps done with legal settings (dafault like as in classic). imo
And no need to change rules in no case.

Just imagine the time you have to make strafes with 100fps, and then with 200. You recieve twice as much time to gain speed, to make strafes. Technically you can perform as many strafes that you have frames for it, eg jump time is 0.7xxx second, so it's ~70 frames, so you can do 70 strafes, or 35 for spending two frames for each. With 200fps numbers changes, and a lot ;)

itachi^ said it all. Heh.

Anyways my legit longjump block record is 254 units and with developer I am able to jump a lot over 260 with ease. I don't think developer would have a such a positive effect on climbing/bhop-maps unless you use a lower framerate such as 125-130. I'm completely against developer, and I agree with what ShoCk said.

So It is all about frame interpolation, not "realtime"? I mean if a 100fps jump is 0,7sec. A 200fps cannot be 1,4sec?
So you have more frames each jump and by that able to make more/smoother strafes?

imo, not a good example as they use airacceleration 100
And it also seems like lower gravity at some places, is this affected by fps as well?

Why not?
I know that very high FPS, like 500-600 makes you move in slowmo, but doesnt timer do that as well?

kafds14/07/2010 02:05

You can't bunnyhop with developer. Thats the main issue here... and with extremely high FPS you also make massive "slowdowns" when you jump and such.

Your framerate must be between 85-100 frames per second. If its too high, its simply illegal as only default settings are allowed in "kreedz climbing". If you have a low framerate you aren't necessarily doing it on purpose, but it is still illegal as with lower framerate you don't suffer from slowdowns as bad as with the standard FPS. If you have a map like kzm_falldown (or something) you will do it faster with lower FPS, since you won't slow down as much per drop.
