Hello everybody

I'm new to the forum. I've been kreedzing and longjumping for a while. Now I have questions about some things I'm not sure about. I'm running counter strike 1.6 on an Intel(R) Pentium, 4 CPU 1.60GHz, 768 MB RAM computer. It is is very slow and the maximum fps I can gain with it is 60 fps. I've tried to optimize the game and set certain commands to a very low value, in order to reduce lags during the game. Now I'm not sure if my current settings are illegal or if they give me an unfair advantage. The "16-Bit" Command for example, I've heard this is illegal in near every CS League, but 32-Bit makes my game lag alot more (especially smoke grenades)

Lately I've done a new personal record in longjumping: 244 units. This was 2 weeks ago and I didn't brake my record eversince. I'm affraid this is the maximum I can reach with 60 fps. Personally I think my stats aren't that bad but you would know better. Here they are from my current record:

Distance: 244.100433
MaxSpeed: 306.858215 (34.306)
PreStrafe: 272.551513 Strafes: 6
Sync: 82

My questions now are:

1) What's the maximum of units I can reach with 60 fps?
2) What's the maximum of units I can reach with my current computer?
3) Are kreedz-stunts like this possible with my current computer?
4) Are there any illegal values in my config (please check my config beneath)?

This is my current config (autoexec):

I have to say that I don't know alot about configs and their commands. I "pimped" by some online tutorial I found on some site.

I would really appreciate it if you could help me!

Thank you in advance

Well, how can i start. The 60 fps is caused by the Vertical Sync in your NVidia control panel being turned on. Force it off and you will get 99 fps (maximum).

Having a lower FPS helps you somehow because you stay in the air for a longer time (not sure if that's for higher than 100 fps but anyways)

You can use either 16 or 32 bits because you get no advantage since you don't use Smoke Grenades while Kreedzing :D

The movie you have posted there uses illegal values (airaccelerate 100 and who knows what, the author of the demos is banned here on XJ for over 2 years)

With lower fps you got the same time for a jump, but different amount of frames, so frames last longer. And you get that "longer stay in air" feeling. But its literally the same.

You get some advantages with low fps also, as like with high. For eg. you recieve less damage with low. The optimal fps for kreedz is 85-100.

musaka15/07/2010 07:15(edited 15/07/2010 07:20)

that doesn't make any sense if you feel that you are slower you are slower there is no such thing as "you feel slower but actually you stay the same " no sense at all in 1 hns server most of the ppl play with developer and you can tell/see the difference the same is in surf take a look at bibo's movie try some of the tricks with the "legal surf settings"and with 300-400 fps and then try them with 60...
with the legal kz settings is the same you jump more with more fps.you take more dmg too but that doesnt change the fact that you jump more

Have you ever tried fps_max "101"? :o
And for these stunts you need atleast 200fps,even more,up to 600.

MJK15/07/2010 09:34

+jlook is ilegal i thin x_X and all so do fps_max 101 as fizik said .... and look up this vid on how to get your FPS up :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUDAEIXvRAw
GL HF :)

dexxies15/07/2010 10:14

Well, with your PC stats u can easily run 99-100 fps if ur PC is not full of viruses or porn.

Woxy15/07/2010 16:29

FPS gives you a small bonus however it depends on your experience
also in my opinion you can play with 100 fps even with your pc :)

Why should jlook be illegal?

Fliborecord holder Tournament #215/07/2010 21:06

1) Nobody knows the maximum distance possible even with 100fps so it's kind of difficult to say it for 60fps. Nevertheless, you can't make a very long jump with only 60fps. With 250 I would be very happy.

2) As someone said, check if you have V-sync enabled (also called vertical synchronization) and have your fps_max in 101. I think you should get 100fps with your computer in kz_longjumps2 and jump how long you ever want. Maybe even 258 :P

3) Unfortunately, that might be too much asked. You might need a pretty powerful CPU for that kind of tricks since you need over 200 fps (which is by the way considered illegal because you need to have developer 1 and fps_max over 101). You also need sv_airaccelerate 100 or more to be able to pull out such strafes.

4. Your config looks pretty legit to me. To proofcheck, look at the rules section.

Thank you all so much for the answers! :)

I've followed this video tutorial and WOW! IT WORKED! Counter Strike is running with 100 fps now! It might be a small step from 60 to 100 but I was so amazed. After 5-7 longjumps I've broke my record by 4 units: my current record is 248.209! It's a cool feeling but I also feel a bit sad: it was really, really hard to reach the 240 border. Now it seems so easy, it makes me think all the previous work was worthless :/

I'm also happy that my config looks legit. It would've been shitty to train longjumps with illegal values (you possibly could've start from zero again). I will still check out the rules section though, thank you.

By the way: what exactly is airaccrelate 100 and developer 1? Do you get better strafes? What's the standard value?

It's really a pity to hear that the player in the video used illegal settings, because his stunts fascinated me so much. The scene at 4:35 even motivated me to learn this jump... maybe in 5 years :D

Thank you for the answers again!

Greetings

Ah, maybe I phrased that in a bad way. The settings in that video aren't really considered illegal by everyone, they're just non-default and illegal in kreedz jumping. In surfing (surf_ maps) sv_airaccelerate 100 and developer 1 are very common. The tricks he managed to do are still impressive!

sv_airaccelerate 100 is a command which lets you to do more intense (faster and wider) strafes without losing speed. Quite the opposite, you gain a lot of speed that way. It also lets you surf easily on slanted blocks. The default value is 10. With sv_airaccelerate 0, you wouldn't even be able to strafe.

developer 1 lets you get over 100 fps. It also enables some developer features, but I'm not exactly sure which. The default value is 0. That way, you can't get over 100fps even with fps_max 999. Keep both commands default since it's strictly not allowed to change them in kreedz jumping.

The guideline of XJ is that keep your config as default as possible. There can be some commands that you might think are harmless (cl_sidespeed 300 or cl_lw 0) but are actually illegal. If you haven't already, bind +jump to mwheeldown (bind mwheeldown +jump). At least that's allowed :P

kafds16/07/2010 00:34

Flibo explained everyone quite well there, but if you want to see a "proper" visual example of what is possible with the usage of these ILLEGAL settings (sv_airaccelerate 100 and developer 1) you should definitely watch the latest movie by Bibo. Its called High - Bibo.

Trolis16/07/2010 00:48

I think kafds he already know about Bibo's movie, cause he mentioned it on his topic-post :)
